Burger Bob’s – Coral Gables, Florida

Burger Bob’s falls into the greasy spoons restaurant category. There’s nothing wrong with that, you’ll usually find some of the best comfort food at places like this. If you don’t know what you’re looking for you could drive right by Burger Bob’s. It’s located right on the Gables Granada Golf course and has a pretty nice view of the course itself. It is cash only (which for some reason I had anticipated). Walking into this place is like walking through a time warp, it takes you back and really sets the mood of an old school diner in the ’50s.

Patty Melt

I’ve been here a couple of times and always ordered the Burger(duh) but on this occasion I had the Patty Melt with fries. It was a good Patty Melt and the text book definition of one. The Hot Dog I ordered was grilled on the flat top and it was a little crispy. The raw onions were the right touch it needed (alright so I added some mustard also). Great dog. The fries were a little underwhelming . The chili was also pretty good and might even be better on the hot dog. After looking around, I don’t really think the strong suit of this place is the burger though but the breakfast. They seem to have everything you’d like: Eggs, Bacon, Ham, Sausage, Grits, Pancakes….I’m sure you get the idea. So I plan to return to have breakfast here and I’ll keep you posted.
