Arbetter’s Hot Dogs In Westchester, Florida

Westchester-Arbetters

Arbetter’s is a Miami institution, it’s been around around as long as I can remember (since 1959, but at the present location since 1972). It also looks like it’s been around forever (I’m not saying that’s a bad thing), which adds to its charm.

Food Network’s Ham On The Street filmed an episode here once. It’s also known locally because of the sign on the wall, “Free Boston Baked Beans The Day After The Red Sox Win The World Series”. It did eventually come to pass some years back and they of course kept their word.

There’s also the “Free Refills this week When You Say You Love Larry Bird Or Bob Cousy” sign. This is true by the way (that you can get free refills not that you love Larry Bird, but then again maybe you do). The menu here is limited to hot dogs, corndogs, fries (chili or cheese) and soft drinks.

Arbetter's Chili Cheese Dogs

Arbetter’s Chili Cheese Dogs

I always get my hot dogs C.C.O.M. (Chili, Cheese, Onion & Mustard). I’ve also heard the Sauerkraut dog is good but that’s not my thing. While I don’t care for the hot dog itself too much, the other flavors more than make up for it.

Chili Cheese Fries

Chili Cheese Fries

The Chili Cheese Fries are second to none. The Chili here is amazing, yes I said it, AMAZING! It’s slightly spicy and even better is that it’s bean-less. This is a must order if you eat here.

Corn Dogs

Corn Dogs

Last but not least, are the Corn Dogs. How are they? Probably the best tasting corn dogs I’ve ever had. So what am I saying? If you live in Miami and you’ve never been here, shame on you!

I used to go here with my dad as a kid. I used to love the place.

But I went within the last year for the first time in more than 25 years and realized it wasn’t all that.

I prefer my hot dogs grilled. They boil them.

Try the Death Dog at Duffy’s. It’s not bad.

Best tasting corn dog ever? I’m so there!

Given it’s location I always figured it was a latin place that served Cuban style hot dogs a la Rey’s pizza serving “pizza”… Blech… Now that I know better, I think I’ll swing by..

I love Cubans and I love Cuban food but Cubans make the absolutely worst pizza I’ve ever had.

So I was born here and I’ve lived here most of my life and never been there…what’cha gonna do? Looks like the only thing I’m missing is a time warp dude, no biggie.

it's alright. nothing really like it in the area and since its apart of bird road history i think its important to support. i like the history behind it more then the food itself. it's old school and its a piece of old Miami. It's good to have 😉

have to agree across the board, the batter for the corn dog is amazing, the dog itself on the other hand, not so much

i’ve been craving a chili cheese dog from arbetter’s so much lately. used to go once a week while in high school at st. brendan. definitely miss it.

  • I feel like the only one who grew up here and eating at all the “Legendary” places on this stretch of Bird Road (Frankie’s Pizza…. China Maid… The Original Godfather’s Pizza…. anyone remember those?) that had never been to Arbetter’s… So I went… And… Yuk! I absolutely HATED their dogs!! They’re an odd color… I really think they must be those mysterious “Meat” hotdogs you see on clearance at Winn-Dixie. (Note I said Winn-Dixie, not Publix. They’re that bad!)

I loves me a good beef hot dog… AC’s Icees? Damn Skippy! But these? I’m thinking that the Nostalgia must be strong with this one…
