Keg South In Pinecrest, Florida

I know what you’re thinking, why am I writing about Keg South again? Even though I am, I’m really not. I don’t know if that even makes any sense. Although Keg South of Kendall was originally my favorite Keg South, the location on US1 has replaced it in my heart, (there’s also a Homestead location). Another less known fact is that they have different owners, which explains a few things like the Wings. This Keg South is located on US1 and 104th and is a little difficult to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for but well worth the search.

I call up my old friend Nelson and ask him if he’d like to meet up for Burgers, Wings and Beers and it’s a go. He had never been here which is a plus. We order the Stuffed Jalapeño Peppers and 10 Wings. We both go with the Jumbo Keg Burger. The Peppers were good (I’ve only had them with Cheddar Cheese not Cream Cheese) and I bit into them way too soon. The roof of my mouth has now definitely seen better days. You should also try the Fresh Cut Fries if you get a chance, they’re really good.

The Wings were awesome as usual, grilled but with some heat. This is the biggest difference between this Keg South and the location in Kendall. The Wings here are way better. Nelson prefers wet Wings but he liked these anyway. To wash everything down we ordered a pitcher of Beer, some ice cold stuff.

Jumbo Keg Burger

The Burgers, well they don’t disappoint. Nelson enjoyed his, and after we finished our Burgers we hung around and had more beer. And after it’s all said and done, there’s nothing like sitting back & discussing one of the Best Burgers in South Florida.

Keg South is a hidden gem down in Pinecrest. Their wings rank up there with Sports Grill. And they make a mean burger. Now I’m craving it big time.

keg south is one of my all time favorite places. i’ve only experienced keg south kendall, which has the same menu…but damn, the mozzerella sticks are AMAZING..only to be followed by the wings, burgers and those french fries, and $2 beer….bliss

Keg South is definately a contender yet you have to get up to WPB and eat at Grease their burgers will get you off-trust me as its my favorite place and I like you have tried them all..

I went there tonight and tried the wings and the burger.

The wings were good but the burger was disappointing.

It’s basically a frozen patty cooked on the grill, so it’s pretty bland. Nothing really special.

I like how the wings are grilled after they are fried.

But I expected better burgers.

  Dude, you might have gone at the wrong time or something. I am there every single Saturday afternoon at about 1 or 2 and I must say. It once gave I seen a frozen party that’s just slapped on the grill like at a drive thu joint. The burger has never let me down by far one of the best burgers around and the wings, although fried before being grilled and never tasting the same twice each time a different taste of awesome for lack of a better word. Also, did you order your food to go? Because if you did,, your comment is void. The wings get soft and mushy due to all the steam and the bun in the burder which are put on the grill for a minute just as the burger is ready cools down along with the beef thus making your first encounter not in the best of situation.

I am fortunate to live a block away from this one of a kind hole in the wall restaurant. Great wings, amazing burgers and lets not forget their mahi sandwich. The staff is fantastic as is the ambiance. Check it out … Wont be dissapointed.

Always was my favorite even when we were sneaking in there back in the 60′s with fake ids to get a cold one or three! The Tamiami Keg at one time was an expansion and became the family friendly favorite leaving the original Keg to us old crusty types. Left MIA in ’94 and was back once with little time and opted for a memory lane dining at Shortys. Some of the old ambience is still there but like a lot of memories and fantasies they aint what I remember and are sometimes better left fantasy. Next trip back to my hometown my homies and I will do The Key…Bon appetite! Is that 3×5 card still on the back wall that says ‘NO PEEKIE PANNIE’
