Sports Exchange – Coral Gables, Florida
By
Jarce and I were minding our business when someone hands us a flyer for the Sports Exchange. I knew exactly where it was because it replaced City Cellar on the mile in Coral Gables. The Sports Exchange has a nice look to it, plus it’s got a ticker with stock quotes as well as flat screens to get all of your sporting needs. We sit down at one of the booths and decide what exactly we’re going to get. We’re told they’re out of Baby Back Ribs when I order the appetizer so we decide to get some Buffalo Wings,
Stuffed Jalapenos and the Pork Sliders. The Wings and Stuffed Jalapenos
were nothing out of the ordinary but the Pork Sliders still linger in my mind. The fresh baked buns add to how the great the pulled pork itself tastes.
I order the Big Boy (I think they should have come up with a more original name than this afterall there is chain of restaurants with this name) , a 1lb. burger with bacon, caramelized onions
and cheddar cheese whereas Jarce, because he has little hands is forced to order the Bacon Cheddar Burger which is the little brother of the burger I’m having.
Unfortunately, the burger was just ok, nothing spectacular. The fries fall into the same category, a bit of a letdown which is a shame because of the close proximity of Sports Exchange to where I work. If the food would have been tastier we would have been eating here often. One last odd note, they have no beer on draft. When I inquired as to why? I was told because the owner(s) felt that the UM crowd would prefer bottled beer to pitchers. I don’t think that’s necessarily true but I have heard there will be 4 different draft beers available soon.
