Cine-It Burger & Grill – Pinecrest, Florida

By

The decor at Cine-It is a bit cheezy (store bought posters of older flicks) as are the names of the items on the menu. Alright, maybe the chicken sandwiches under chick flicks made me laugh. There are also flat screens showing old B-movies throughout the place. My friend Mike was in town, so he joined my wife Marcela and a few others at Cine-It. As we’re walking in, the owner tells us the place went from being empty one minute the night before to having all the tables full the next. My thoughts on that comment later…It turns out the owner used to be my niece’s boss (he owned 2 Chicken Kitchens, including the one in the same strip mall). We order from the very nice but talkative cashier. So here’s the low down on what was ordered and by who. Mike = Dbl “Feature” Cheeseburger w/fries, Marcela = Cheeseburger, Niece = 2 Pack Sliders, Friend = 2 Pack Sliders and I had the Dbl “Feature” Cheeseburger with only mayo. To share, we ordered some Chili, 2 Pups, and an order of Family Fries with 4 dipping sauces (nacho cheese, chipotle bbq, chili and mustard curry). Niece and Friend felt the Sliders (which are served with Hawaiian rolls) were ok. The regular sized burgers were much better. We all felt the Chili was definitely from a can, more than likely Hormel. The pups were ok(also on Hawaiian rolls) but Krystal does a better job with this. The Family Fries are your standard shoestring fries. and as far as the sauces are concerned: Nacho cheese=it’s nacho cheese(what else can I say), Chipotle bbq=there was an odd flavor there, chili=canned and the mustard curry=tastes similar to the version sold at Chicken Kitchen but it seemed to have much more curry powder.Mike and I really liked the burger. It’s reminiscent of the type of burger you’d get at a greasy spoon. I liked it so much that I decided to get another double for each of us. This is where I’m gonna reference my earlier comment. I’m waiting to order and a full conversion is being carried on between the customer and the guy taking the order (same dude who originally took our order). There were possibly 3 orders ahead of me but it took almost 20 minutes to get the second set of burgers once I placed the order. Since I had not mentioned it earlier, you place your order and then wait for your name to be called. Then the food is brought to your table. They seem to get overwhelmed rather easily which would explain how this place was filling up but the orders were getting out rather slowly. One last thing I forgot to mention, their brownie was good.

Bad News: this place closed down a month ago. That and about 3 other stores in that shopping center have gone away in the past few months. I was upset, as I hadn't had the Godzilla yet.
