The Big Cheese – South Miami, Florida

I’ve been going to The Big Cheese for what seems like forever. I just found out recently that it was originally located where Wall’s Ice Cream is right now, which is across the street and probably about a tenth of the size. I can imagine how ridiculous the lines must have been back then, the lines are ridiculous now. Nelson and I agree to arrive relatively early to beat any lines and he’s actually seated by the time I arrive. We order a pitcher of Heineken (can’t go wrong there), some buffalo chicken strips and a half dozen garlic rolls. The buffalo chicken strips are of the packaged variety doused in some hot sauce, I believe it was Frank’s Red Hot. Nothing special. The garlic rolls are one of the best you’ll ever have, freshly baked with a lot of fresh garlic on top, great stuff.Nelson loved his lasagna while I thought my cheeseburger sub was good (great fresh baked roll) but nothing spectacular. We ordered a pepperoni pizza for good measure. I had a slice of it, although I liked it, I regretted not ordering their White Pizza which is what we used to get back in the day. After stuffing our faces we went to Wall’s across the street and had some of their Ice Cream. You’d be missing out if you don’t the same thing.
