Krispy Kreme Doughnut Burger aka Luther Burger at Miami Dade County Fair

Krispy Kreme Doughnut Burger at the Fair

The Luther Burger is a Bacon Cheeseburger with grilled Krispy Kreme Doughnuts as its buns. Paula Deen has served it at her restaurant in Savannah, Georgia and it’s rumored to be named after singer Luther Vandross (possibly its creator). In Miami no one has served a Luther Burger until now (March 2010). You can find this gem at the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Burger Stand at the Miami-Dade County Fair.

I love their tag line “Where Doughnut Meets Burger”.

They start with a fresh Beef Patty on a griddle. Two Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are also heated on the griddle to be used as the buns. Once the patty is cooked it’s topped with Bacon and Cheese which is allowed to melt. You can add Lettuce and Tomato but I skipped out on that or any other condiment for that matter.

Prior to trying the Burger I was unsure if it would taste good but I was wrong. The fresh meat, the melted Cheese, the Bacon and of course the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are such an odd combination that it works. The fact that they’re not using frozen Burger patties also makes a big difference.

The best part was I could skip dessert. The Fair will only be around from March 26th to April 11, 2010. If were you, I would hurry it up if you want to get your hands on this guy.

About Burger Beast

I started writing the Burger Beast food blog to tell folks about those little forgotten gems in South Florida. Over the course of the last 5 years or so I've added News, Opinions, & Tips on a variety of Food related subjects. My first love will always be Burgers but Comfort Food is where it's at. At the end of the day I’m a regular dude who writes about a bunch of things I think you should know about.

I actually had this at the Google cafeteria in NYC, but the only difference is that they sliced the doughnut in half rather than using two doughnuts. The effect of the juice from the burger, grease of the bacon and the melted glaze from the doughnut was breathtaking.

BurgerBeast…I love the Blog… I have gone to most of the places that you have reviewed in soflo, and i tend to agree with your reviews. So as i was at the fair saw your burgerbeast approved sticker on the doughnut burger stand. So i tried it…Man that was horrible. Com'on man, don't just be handing out those approved stickers just for the hell of it. The meat was bad, cheese straight off the kraft singles package, and worse bacon. Forget about the doughnut buns. As I was eating it i thought no way this guy likes this burger, than i threw the rest away.

i was skeptical yet morbidly curious – when i saw the beast sticker i figured "why the hell not" – this thing was tasty as hell! enjoyed it very much, as did my 3 friends that each took a bite to help me munch it down. i did, however, feel it's effects well into the next day. BUT WORTH IT!!!!!
