The first thing that caught my eye about Daddy’s Grill’s Menu was the “Discos Voladores” aka Flying Saucers on the menu. I haven’t eaten those since I was a kid.
What’s a Disco Volador? It’s a sandwich made on the special contraption below. Daddy’s Grill actually had theirs brought over from Cuba which I guess makes them as authentic as you’re going to get. You put your sandwich together, rip the ends off (well at least I do), close it up and toast over the burners on your stove. The two most popular Discos Voladores to make are Ham/Cheese and Guava/Cream Cheese. UPDATE: Unfortunately, Daddy’s Grill removed them from the menu but still does make them on special occasions.
The most popular item on the Daddy’s Grill menu is their Steak Pincho hands down. It’s the perfect starting snack to every food truck event. It won the Burgie Award for Best Pincho in 2011 as voted by the readers of the Burger Beast Blog. There’s also a great Burger. When ordering I suggest you ask them to add Chimichurri to the patty while it’s cooking. This will take it over the top.
They recently opened a Daddy’s Grill Cafe in Hialeah with an expanded menu. You can of course have the Daddy’s Grill Cheeseburger plus Sandwiches & Breakfast items like the Pan con Tortilla (Omelet Sandwich). They’ve got a killer Medianoche and if you do order the Fries you’ll fall in love with the Cilantro Cream dipping sauce. Daddy’s Grill Cafe is located right next to Miami Dade College Hialeah Campus.
