Rok:Brgr Burger Bar + Gastropub has got this great laid back atmosphere that I just fell in love with. There was a dude outside with only his acoustic guitar busting out some great jams and playing anything from George Michael’s “Faith” to Everclear’s “Santa Monica”.

I had a tough time once I looked at the menu trying to figure out what exactly to start off with. I settled on Primo’s Meatballs and an order of Poutine. The meatballs were good but that whipped ricotta was so smooth. It really made those meatballs something else.

Poutine for the uninformed is a Canadian dish. It’s cheese fries with gravy. They nailed it! The gravy was perfect which is essential in making an awesome Poutine. Also, the fries were fresh cut and perfectly seasoned. They use kennebec potatoes which are perfect for fries. I would say this is a definite must have.

As tempted as I was to create my own with all the toppings available I opted to choose the Rok:Brgr. It’s a 10 oz. patty with Vermont cheddar, hickory smoked bacon, bourbon bbq sauce on a beautiful sesame seed bun. It’s served with lettuce, tomato and all that jazz but I removed it. The bourbon bbq sauce is served on the side and I found myself alternating dipping the burger and eating it as is. I made the right move by choosing the namesake burger because that usually tells me a lot about a place. In this case, it told me this joint is serious about its burgers. I forgot to mention I had truffle fries with the burger that were on par with some of the best fries I’ve ever had. If I lived closer this would definitely be a hang out for me but for now I’ll settle for a long distance relationship.
Must Enjoy:
