Whole Foods’ Fill the Grill Competition will feature Food Truck Chefs

Whole Foods Market in Coral Gables is hosting a Food Truck “Fill the Grill” cook-off. The competition’s rules are very simple. Each “Chef” (their term not mine) will be given $20 and 20 minutes to shop for ingredients. They will then have 20 minutes to create a “delicious, affordable and creative summer meal using only a grill“. A panel of judges will decide who made the best dish. It’s FREE to attend and the event starts at 6PM on each scheduled day.

After taking a look at the participants, one thing stands out to me…Latin Burger is way out of place here. Palate Party, Mr. Good Stuff & CUBANCUBE have created some great takes on comfort food and continue to do so. They’ve never sacrificed quality.

Anyways…..so if I had to choose I would say Round 1 is Palate Party, Round 2 is CUBANCUBE and even though it’s a tough choice, it’d say CUBANCUBE wins it by a hair. If you had tried CUBANCUBE’s dish at the Trucks on the Beach event then you know what I’m talking about.

Participating “Chefs”:

Thursday, August 2: Jim Heinz of Latin Burger & Taco vs. Robyn Almodovar of The Palate Party

Thursday, August 9: Alfredo Montero of Mr. Good Stuff vs. Eileen Andrade of CUBANCUBE

Thursday, August 16: The two finalists will battle in a Final Cook-off

About Burger Beast

I started writing the Burger Beast food blog to tell folks about those little forgotten gems in South Florida. Over the course of the last 5 years or so I've added News, Opinions, & Tips on a variety of Food related subjects. My first love will always be Burgers but Comfort Food is where it's at. At the end of the day I’m a regular dude who writes about a bunch of things I think you should know about.
