Mojo Donuts – Pembroke Pines & Westchester, Florida

In South Florida, if you want to hit up an indie Donut shop you would have needed to either driveway South to Mandarin Doughnuts (which is now closed) or Dandee Doughnuts (in Hollywood & Pompano). Good news for you donut-o-holics, Mojo Donuts just opened in Pembroke Pines with the type of Donuts that will drive you crazy.

I was excited when I walked in. The smell of Doughnuts & Coffee (no, I’m not a cop) made me float to the counter just like in a cartoon. I really don’t even remember walking after the first step.

There they were before me, calling out to me. How do I decide which to get? Who do I leave behind?

This called for a Latte break with a Log Cabin Bacon Bar & Apple Fritter chaser.

Vanilla Latte w/Log Cabin Bacon Bar (Maple) & Apple Fritter

Log Cabin Bacon Bar (Maple) – Extreme Closeup Edition

Wowsers was all I could think after having those two.

My mind was made up, “2 Dozen to Go and throw in 3 Apple & 3 Blueberry Fritters while you’re at it.” I didn’t even know what I’m going to do with all of these but I felt compelled to buy almost everything. I sent word to my people and now I’m waiting……

My peeps are here!

Now, back to my donuts so skedaddle.

So before i decided to become obsessed with Burgers, my true love was Donuts. It was clear to me that dollar for dollar Dandee Donuts was the best donut i ever had (and that includes Donut plant in NY and half a dozen other donut shops that were featured in the donut book and on food network) now you are throwing Mojo at me, and i have to alter my burger adventure to go have donuts. Will let you know tomorrow what we think, in the mean time, you should try Dandee either on atlantic ave or in Hollywood.

Ok, these were really good donuts. No doubt, no complaints. Not sure they are better than Dandee though. Sort of comparing Hagen Daz to Ben and Jerry. It is time for the Burger Beast to give love to Dandee donuts. (try their food too)

No i work for Visa, however in the years that i worked for a competitor of Visa, i would buy dandee every friday for the staff. So there is that sentimental thing you cannot dismiss. but im just being objective

Ok, I apologize. Usually I get folks shilling for places they work at on here. I’ve been to Dandee but it was late in the day, right before they closed. I need to get there earlier and I promise you I will.

no worries, i didnt mean to sound like a commercial for the place either. Remember, i have one primary principal when i visit all these comfort food places: In Burger Beast I trust.

forgot to mention i bought three dozen of these babies, not a bad donut in the bunch. Sort of depressing letting other people take a donut. did you ever feel that slight resentment?
