Every time I’ve been to Dairy Belle Ice Cream it’s been inundated with French Canadian tourist or just French Canadians who dress badly. If they’re here that must mean only one thing, the Poutine brought them here.
Before we get to the Poutine let’s talk Dogs and Burgers. I don’t like anything dragged through the Salad much less my Dogs but Chicagoans do and this appeared to be a mighty fine representation of a Chicago Dog (Mustard, Neon Relish, Onions, Tomatoes, Dill Pickle, Celery Salt, & Hot Peppers). It did not have a Poppyseed Bun but hey, you can’t get everything in life. The Chili Dog was passable with its sludgy Chili. I did add some Yellow Mustard to brighten up the taste a bit.
I really liked the Double Cheeseburger. There is something very nostalgic about how it looks and eating in this outdoor setting adds to it. Nice job on it Dairy Belle.
And the dish of the hour, hailing from North of the United States is……Poutineeeee!!!!
Poutine is a Canadian dish with three components: Fries, Cheese Curds and Brown Gravy. You can find Poutine in the Northern United States and there’s the U.S. version called Disco Fries with Mozzarella replacing the Cheese Curds. The Poutine was good, the Curds were squeaky, the Gravy was thickish but the Fries were not fresh cut. If they switched that one thing then this Poutine would be off the charts.
How was the Ice Cream? How would I know…I didn’t have any, lol
