Bokampers: Waterfront Dining, Comfort Food, Craft Brews And Sports Galore!

Growing up in south Florida, the intracoastal waterway was the easiest way to navigate to our favorite restaurants and bars. We watched in anticipation as the newest waterfront restaurant was built in Oakland Park. Bokampers Sports Bar & Grill, the self proclaimed “Best Game in Town” opened their 18,000 square foot location just north of the Oakland Park Blvd bridge last November. In addition to driving, diners can tie up their boats or hop off the Water Taxi to watch sports on more than 150 HDTVs while feasting on burgers, ribs, sushi, mussels and craft brews.

Opening night we sampled bites and brews (they have local brewery Funky Buddha’s Floridian and Hop Gun IPA) and toured the multi room venue. They served popular classics and a selection from their sushi and raw bar. With  an expansive menu (including a Skinny version, Raw Bar & Sushi and Dessert & Cafe), even the pickiest palate will find something to like. Parking can be a challenge, and valet is recommended. Better yet, take a scenic ride on the water taxi and be delivered dockside to your table. ~ Burger Belle

BO’S BUFFALO CHICKEN EGG ROLLS: crispy egg rolls with chipotle seasoned chicken, crumbled bleu cheese, celery, carrots and a hint of cayenne pepper for that extra kick, served with bleu cheese dipping sauce.

Bo’s Killer B wings tossed in a combination of medium, BBQ and garlic sauces, then grilled to perfection.

Center stage was a double order of Bo’s Award Winning Smokehouse Ribs. These are dry rubbed baby back ribs, slow roasted in custom smokers and slathered with Bo’s Signature BBQ Sauce. At first bite, you can smell and taste the peppery – not sweet – rub. The meat falls right off the bone. The flavor is intense, and the spices linger. These are paired with hand cut fresh potatoes that are very hot, very salty and not greasy.

THE SMOKEY BO-B-Q BURGER topped with smoked gouda cheese, Bo’s Signature BBQ Sauce, applewood smoked bacon and breaded onion rings.

Here is a regular sized portion of the smokin’ ribs. The salty sweet potato fries topped with marshmallow sauce were heavenly, no need for dessert (NOT).

We finished the night with the decadent Fried Oreos with vanilla bean ice cream.
