Ever heard of Caporal Chicken? Well, if you’re not from New York or Cuba it’s unlikely. Caporal Chicken had something like 14 locations in Cuba before Castro came along and put a stop to that. In 1968 they opened up in the Washington Heights part of New York where their name is now legendary. The family moved to Miami in 2011 and with that came the closing of Caporal Chicken, that is until now.
Caporal Chicken just found its new home in Miami at 14616 SW 8th Street with some additions to their menu like a Chicken & Waffles with homestyle Syrups (I love the Spicy one) & Butters. Their famous Chicken Box (available with different Chicken pieces & quantities) which includes a few pieces of Chicken, a Bread Roll, and Fresh Cut Fries. Yes, they’re actually making Fresh Cut Fries. *And the Fried Chicken well, it’s up there with some of the Best I’ve had in this city.
The Chicken Tenders come 6 to a box and are as moist & flavorful of a piece of Chicken as you can find. If they were smaller I’d pop them in my mouth like candy, don’t think I didn’t try. For dessert, there’s Cuban Ice Cream Sandwiches and Cookies but I skipped those for their Fried Apple Pie, which is undoubtedly the right way to end this meal.
The best part of this new Caporal Chicken is that it’s open for 24 hours. Guess who’s having Fried Chicken at 4AM this week? THIS GUY! I was pointing at myself while typing in case you were wondering.

*The owners of Caporal Chicken treated me to this lunch. It was very nice of them to do that but it in no way affected what I wrote cause the truth is if I didn’t think the food was great it would never have made it onto the Burger Beast blog.
