I met Thomas Ward 3 years ago when he opened up one of the original Food Trucks in the Orlando scene, the Treehouse Truck. He’s back at it again with a new restaurant called Pig Floyd’s Urban Barbakoa. Pig Floyd’s features BBQ with a nice mix of things like the Matahambre (Hunger Killer) Sandwich, Black Beans & Rice and Cuban Banana Pudding, which are odes to his hispanic background.
I drove up a few days after opening and ended up eating there 3 times over 4 days, that includes some Ribs we took to go. The Matahambre (Hunger Killer) stays true to its name and fills you and kills you with awesomeness. Those St. Louis Ribs are ridiculous and on the Taco side it’d be a crime to not have at least a couple of the Butter Chicken Tacos.
If you’re able to save some room, don’t forget to have the Cuban Banana Pudding.
