Just a little over 2 and a half years ago I wrote about Chef Alberto Cabrera and his just opened Bread + Butter Counter in Coral Gables. This past December I told you about his new sandwich concept in Little Havana called Little Bread which seemed to take the parts that worked best at B+B and expanded on them.
Now Little Bread has taken over the old Bread + Butter Counter space in Coral Gables. Is it a good thing? Absolutely.
Once I tried Little Bread I knew it was more along the lines of what Chef Cabrera was originally thinking when Bread + Butter Counter was created. It makes sense that the change would happen plus it’s better for me since I live less than 10 minutes away.
The menu at this Little Bread location is expanded with all 4 different type of Frita Cubanas available, a Fried Chicken Sandwich (a few other sammies too) and the Lunch Truck Bowls. The Bowls allow you to build your meal by choosing from a Protein, a Grain, a Sauce to top everything and one Side. I’m not feeling the name Lunch Truck Bowls so I will go ahead and rename them “Lunchero Bowls”, it’s more fitting.
The Medianoche Croquetas are the perfect starter and as much as I hate to admit it, that Frita with Bacon, American Cheese, Pickles & Thousand Island Dressing is ridiculously good.
Order the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich and don’t share. All you have to do is pretend it’s not very good, it always works for me 🙂
Remember to save some space for the Sea Salted Nutella Cookies from Casa Gioia (winners of UM’s Desserts Wars).
