It’s tricky when I’m out and about with my parents on vacation. They and I don’t see eye to eye on what exactly to order so sometimes it becomes an “if you order that then I’ll order this” kinda deal.
I was driving around Winter Park in the hopes that something might catch my eye and there it was, Antonella’s Pizza. It’s not a very large space but it makes up for it with big flavors and the friendliest of staffs (including the owner who told us the history of the place).
We agree on an order of Garlic Knots but trying to figure out one pizza to eat ends with a half Cheese and half Antonella’s Pie (Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushrooms, Onions, Red Peppers, Mozzarella & Tomato Sauce). I was of the opinion that we needed to try the house pie, my Mom wasn’t having any of that discussion.
We became friendly with the table next to us and offered them a couple of our Garlic Knots which caused them to order some Knots, who can blame them? They were “en fuego” (NBA Jam-style).
My Dad who stayed neutral during the Pizza battle enjoyed the Antonella’s pie while my Mom stuck exclusively to the Cheese. The Cheese was good but c’mon, there’s a reason the “Antonella’s” is named after the owner. It was born to be a winner.
One of my other afflictions with Pizzerias is the lack of control whenever I see a Meatball or Chicken Parmesan on the menu, in this case a Chicken Parmigiana was the culprit. If I wasn’t writing this post right now, I’d drop everything and make the 243 mile trip back to Antonella’s just for this fella. For real.
But the adventure is not over, next trip I’ve got my sites set on the Meatball Parmigiana Hero and the Meatboli. Meatboli? Exactly.
