Amstel Light & Heineken Light Burger Beast Challenge

The Heineken Light Burger Beast Challenge began its life as the Amstel Light Burger Beast Challenge. Every January & February in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 I visited between 15 and 25 restaurants and paired their signature burger with an Amstel Light (2015 & 2016) or a Heineken Light (2017, 2018 & 2019).

I would then choose the burger that paired best with a Heineken Light Beer every year. On most occasions, I decided which burger I thought might pair best, but some restaurants had a special running just for the sweepstakes.

While that was happening, Burger Beast Readers could submit their burger pictures, and the winner would receive two tickets to the South Beach Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash.

All the winners and participants are listed below. You can also check out all the burger posts under the Instagram hashtag #burgerbeastsweeps

I’ve been busy traveling around South Florida, visiting the 24 participating restaurants, and grabbing a burger and a Heineken Light. I was also posting a picture of each one on social media (FacebookTwitter, & Instagram).

This has been the toughest year to select just one best burger out of the bunch.

Deciding the winner of the 2017 Heineken Light Burger Beast Challenge #BurgerBeastSweeps was very difficult. They were some genuine contenders, but after careful deliberation, one restaurant stood out in my mind and taste buds.

Fado Irish Pub in Brickell had my favorite burger, the Fado Pub burger. It’s a grilled Angus 8oz. burger patty topped with smoked cheddar cheese, whiskey bacon marmalade & a fried egg on a pretzel poll. It was stunning and very delicious. You need to go out and try this bad boy.

After carefully thinking about all the great burgers I ate for the Amstel Light Burger Beast Challenge, I have a WINNER!

Bull Market from Ft. Lauderdale blew me away with their version of a Juicy Lucy. I’m a sucker for regional burgers, and the Juicy Lucy (cheese-stuffed burgers) is Minnesota’s specialty burger of choice. I’ve had plenty of Juicy Lucys in my burger lifetime, and this one ranks right up with one of the best.

Congratulations from Amstel Light and Burger Beast!
