Ms. Cheezious’ Holiday Gift To Us, Their First Restaurant

Ms. Cheezious Storefront

Just in time for the 2013 holiday season Ms. Cheezious (winner of the 2012 & 2013 Burgie Awards for Best Food Truck) will open its first restaurant in the MiMo District (7418 Biscayne Blvd). The plan is to have the shop’s opening coincide with their 3rd Anniversary. As expected, all your favorites from the two food trucks will be available as well as Salads, Fresh Baked Desserts, Craft Beers/Wines and Breakfast Sandwiches (they will be open from Breakfast to Late Night).

We use quality ingredients, we cook everything from scratch, and we have a fantastic staff, many of whom have been with us since we started 2 ½ years ago. We attribute our success so far to the combination of great food and great customer service,” said Brian Mullins, co-owner of Ms. Cheezious®. “We are very proud of our successful social media presence. When the followers leave a comment or question, we respond quickly and try to maintain a close relationship with our customers. With this natural expansion to a brick and mortar restaurant, we plan to continue offering our clients great comfort food in a relaxed setting.”

Plans are also in place for expansion to other cities “including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.

In other words, they plan to be everywhere very soon which means it’s time to unbuckle your belt.

The Empanada Truck Debuts Tomorrow In Plantation

Empanada Truck Logo

Che Grill has been on the streets of South Florida for almost 2 years now. Since day one I’ve been mesmerized by the baked Empanadas they serve, in particular the Spicy Beef. Owner Damian Forneris decided it was time to expand the brand with his new food truck, The Empanada Truck. I’ve tried the new Buffalo Chicken, Parmesan Chicken and French Onion Empanadas which taste just like their names imply. There’s even an Empanada named after the recently appointed Argentinian Pope, ingredients unknown (Potato maybe?). It’s gonna be a tough task working your way through the list but they do help you out by giving you a special price for purchases by the dozen, I’ve been known to go this route at the Che Grill truck.

You can catch them tomorrow for the 1st time at Food Truck Invasion’s Plantation Heritage Park. They will also be at Food Trucks at Arts Park next Monday April 15th and at the World’s Largest Food Truck Event Ever at Magic City Casino on Saturday April 20th.

The Miami Street Food Court Returns To Westchester On Tuesday March 26th

Blues-Brothers

I was approached by the folks at Miami Auto Collection about putting together a Food Truck Event at their new location in Westchester. I thought to myself how the Miami Food Truck scene had changed in the last 2 and 1/2 years since that dusty lot on 65th and Bird Road which Food Truck manafacturer Food Cart USA has secured for use and I had named the Miami Street Food Court. Wouldn’t it be cool to get the gang back together? The folks who set the pace for that 1st year before Food Trucks who’s idea of original cuisine was a frozen burger and fries for $9 (those mother f’ers) started showing up. Unfortunately, The Fish Box retired from active duty earlier this year which means the original line up can not be reproduced.

Chef Richard Hales (Sakaya Kitchen & Dim Ssam a Gogo) suggested I replace them with Jefe’s Original Fish Taco & Burgers in the line-up. It really was a great idea because back then, Jefe’s wanted to get in on the Tuesday Nights at the original Miami Street Food Court and when he couldn’t/wouldn’t/wasn’t allowed to (depends on who you talk to), he ended up creating the B.T.T.R. (Biscayne Triangle Truck Roundup). The acronym was important because it was used to tweet how it was B.T.T.R. or better than any other Food Truck Event going on that night. Twitter battles ensued between both sides over it. Eventually the location on 65th and Bird Road was closed down by code enforcement and all the trucks moved into the B.T.T.R. which flourished into an event that set the bar for Food Truck Events in Miami, but that’s a story for another day.

Come Catch The Fish Box One Last Time At The 2013 Burgie Awards

The Fish Box Truck

The Fish Box was one of the trucks that gave the Miami Food Truck some credibility. You could always count on getting great food and service from the Fish Box. At the beginning of the summer the Fish Box went on hiatus as their focus was the expansion/addition of the dining area at their restaurant La Camaronera in Little Havana. With their 40th Anniversary approaching, La Camaronera will indeed be retiring The Fish Box Food Truck. But you can catch it one last time in Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday February 2nd in Esplanade Park at the 2013 Burgie Awards.

So long good friend, you will be missed.

That WAS a little dramatic, you can still hit up La Camaronera though.
