Butcher & the Burger In The Town Center Of Boca Raton, Florida Food Court

There is no doubt in my mind that you will not find a better Burger in a mall food court than Butcher & the Burger at the Town Center of Boca Raton. It’s also probably the most expensive meal you will ever have in a mall food court too. My Aged Prime Beef Blend Burger (w/Cheese and Benton Bacon) with Large Fries and a fountain drink set me back $18.97 (with tax). I’m not complaining by the way, just informing you. I’ve got no problem paying for something if its worth it and this is. It’s just a little different of an atmosphere than I would have thought Butcher and the Burger would have made their South Florida debut in.

There are options when it comes to choosing the protein for your buns: Aged Prime Beef, Local Grass-Fed Beef, Bison, Turkey, Chicken, Salmon, Vegan(Lentil & Brown Rice). After you’ve decided that, you need to choose what spice blend you want on your patty: Chicago Style Steak House, Grandma’s Onion Soup, Currry-Coconut, Fiery Ghost Pepper, Simple-Kosher Salt and Cracked Black Pepper, Greek, Cajun, and Umami (Scallions, Ginger, Garlic & Sweet Soy). They use Kennebec Potatoes for their Fries which are available in Small or Large sizes, no Mediums here. Some Salads made the menu and a Soup of the Day. Shakes and Beignets make up their desserts.

I asked for the Chicago Style Steak House seasoning on my Aged Prime Beef Burger (great with a little heat on the end). The smokiness of the grill it was cooked on came through from the very first bite. I hadn’t mentioned how beautiful and fluffy the split top Burger bun was. I don’t even think I’ve ever said this but the amount of Benton’s Bacon on my Burger seemed a little excessive or maybe I’m used to everyone skimping out.

Their fries made from Kennebec Potatoes were excellent. Vegan Fries are another option.

The atmosphere? Well, I was in a mall in Boca so it was great for people watching while I enjoyed my Burger & Fries. I hope the folks of Boca Raton embrace having such a high quality Burger joint in their mall. If they don’t, they can always open up in my hood.

P.S.: The table next to me was having the Beignets and they looked real good.

Folks of Boca Raton, you can now run over to the Town Center of Boca Raton for your Burger fix. Butcher & the Burger which I told you about a little over a year ago is finally in soft open mode. They’ve been  a little on the quiet side with information as to the actual grand opening date but that shouldn’t stop you if you’re really committed from eating one of their Burgers today.

“Hot and Sweaty” Meatball Eating Contest at Wicked Awesome Snack Bar in Boca Raton

Are you into eating contests and most importantly are you insane? Well then, I’d set aside Saturday August 18th (7PM) on your calendar to come out and prove what a bad ass you are. Wicked Awesome Snack Bar in Boca Raton is hosting its first ever “Hot and Sweaty Meatball Eating Contest”. Below are all the details:

The contest will give pepperphiles 10 minutes to eat as many of Wicked Awesome’s delicious chicken meatballs as possible. The catch? Aside from each meatball being plenty spicy, a few select ‘balls per tray will be laced with ultra-hot ghost peppers. Contestants looking to cool their mouths won’t find much respite, either; the only beverage allowed to be consumed during that 10 minute window is Billy’s Chilies from Twisted Pine Brewing Company of Boulder, Colorado. The mouth-tingling beer is made with Fresno, Anaheim, jalapeno, habanero, and Serrano peppers.

Whatever lucky winner can stand the heat will end up with an epic prize: one of every craft beer that Wicked Awesome stocks, a prize worth $300.

Spectators not looking to enter a fiery pit of despair will be treated to quite a scene — and some good grub too. Wicked Awesome will feature custom dishes for the night, each paired with Twisted Pine beers such as Billy’s Chilies, Raspberry Wheat, and Hoppy Boy (an India Pale Ale).

I wish you and your ass much luck!

Rebel House in Boca Raton, Florida

Almost 3 years ago I walked into Charm City Burger Company not knowing what my experience was going to be like. Sure, I had read on the Chowhound talk threads that the best burger in South Florida was being served out of this joint in Deerfield Beach but you never know. Burger fans take things seriously when terms like “Best” are being thrown around and I’m no different. Charm City delivered on these promises.

When E&M Munchies (Charm City & Rebel House’s parent company) opened their second restaurant and decided to do Mexican Street Food with a Lucha Libre theme, El Jefe Luchador was born. The Mistico Quesadilla (Beef Barbacoa, Mushrooms, Oaxaca Cheese, Caramelized Onion, Mole Negro & Truffle Crema) is still one of the best taco’s I’ve ever had. Yes, it’s a taco not a quesadilla.

So what I’m leading up to is that if you go around and eat locally you’ll find a connection with some Chefs who are on your wavelength. You understand and appreciate what they bring to the table. That’s where I’m at with Chef Mike Saperstein.

Rebel House continues the same greatness that I’ve found at Charm and el Jefe. The dishes are well thought out and the flavors are all there. Is everything perfect? No but it’s close and like any good Chef, he’s constantly tweaking here and there to make the dishes as great as possible.

I’m not going to waste your time with some long drawn out explanations of flavor profiles, that’s not what you come to BurgerBeast.Com for. You come here to know, should I or shouldn’t I?

And I say, pick 3 of your closest friends and head out to Rebel House. Order and share everything. But make sure you get the Mashed Potatoes with the Short Rib/Mushroom Gravy. That gravy deserves its own fan page on Facebook. I might even start it myself.

The current menu can be seen here —> Rebel House Menu. But what you really need to do is check out what some of the dishes I’ve had at Rebel House look like:

Brussel Sprouts

Chicken Poppers

Mac N Cheese Pancake

Mashed Potatoes

Pork Belly Tots

Rock Shrimp Taco

Risotto

Lamb Meatballs

Fries

Fried Rice

Fried Chicken (Top View)

Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries in Boca Raton, Florida

The first time I set eyes on Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries was back in the mid 80′s when they could be found in the Food Court area of a local mall. All I can remember was that fresh cut Fries were the only thing available and I’d load up on ketchup to dip them. I hadn’t thought of them in years until I read about their new concept which brought burgers in the mix.

Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries is mostly compared to Five Guys since their burger is similar in look and taste to them. The menu on the other hand is much larger and includes a Veggie Burger and a few Chicken options. It’s not the best Chili Cheese Dog I’ve had but it gets the job done,

It was pretty ridiculous the amount of fries that come with the “Large” order. And Yes, the fries tasted just as good as I remember them but Large is definitely a sharing size.
