Coming Soon: Top Burger in Downtown Miami

(picture courtesy of Top Burger’s Facebook Page)

Guess what Downtown Miami? Invading the space formerly occupied by the First & First Southern Baking Company is Top Burger with the tagline “Good Food Fast”.  I dropped in on Monday thinking they were open but they were having a Friends & Family event. I was told they were opening Friday but I’ve tried calling the number to confirm and received no answer.

I was at least able to snag a copy of the menu which I’ve scanned below. Burgers, Dogs, Fresh Cut Fries and a few other items make up the menu. They’re also doing delivery which is great for you local folks. If anyone hears anything about the opening date let me know.

Miami Subs Debuts New Fresh Angus Steak Burgers

Once upon a time aka the early ’90s I used to really love having burgers from Miami Subs. I remember one of their burgers dripping juicy loveliness onto my favorite PJ Harvey t-shirt. At some point they lost their way and switched over to frozen patties. The good news is that as of July 3rd all locations will be selling their new Fresh Angus Steak Burgers.

The burgers have also all gone from single to double patty with a freshly baked brioche and multi-grain rolls option. My sources tell me it’s a conscious effort to go after the Five Guys market. I recently had one of their new Angus Burgers during the trial period in Hollywood and there is a giant difference in taste. I’m glad to see them do the right thing.

New Angus Burgers you can choose from:

Classic Super Burger: Double-stacked with lettuce, tomato, onion & mayo on a brioche roll.

Rodeo Burger: Double-stacked with Swiss American cheese, onion rings, chipotle BBQ sauce, lettuce & tomato on a multi-grain roll.

Nacho Ordinary Burger: Double-stacked with nacho cheese, jalapeños, onion rings, lettuce & tomato on a brioche roll.

Bistro Burger: Double-stacked with grilled mushrooms & onions, Swiss American cheese, South Beach sauce, lettuce & tomato on a multi-grain roll.

Big Havana Burger: Double-stacked with Swiss American cheese, sliced ham, pickles, mustard, lettuce & tomato on a brioche roll.

Amazing Spider-Man-themed burger, the Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger from Hardee’s & Carl’s Jr.

The Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger from Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s is available now at all Hardee’s & Carl’s Jr. locations.  The The burger is a tie-in with the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man movie, which I’m looking forward to watching by the way. The new burger is a Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. Charbroiled Beef Patty, Bacon, American Cheese, Swiss Cheese and Mayo on a Toasted Bun.

Below is the first of many ads, some that will feature Marvel legend Stan Lee. If you’re in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Houston, St. Louis, Indianapolis and Atlanta there’s a “The Amazing Spider-Man Web-tacular at Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s” tour coming to you soon.

Plus all stores will have a “Spider-Man standee with a new augmented reality marker for users to scan on their smart phones to unlock exclusive Spider-Man content, as well as Spider-Man-themed Cool Kids Combos“.

Wendy’s Stand on Pink Slime

Wendy’s placed this ad in eight major daily newspapers around the United States on Friday, including USA Today, The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune and The Miami Herald. Pink Slime or its lesser known name, Finely Textured Beef has managed to gross out a nation of folks.

Pink Slime is lean beef trimmings treated with ammonia. The fact that fast food restaurants (Burger King, McDonald’s & Taco Bell) have admitted to using it in the past is not as horrible as finding out that supposedly 70% of the ground beef for sale at supermarkets contain it.

They’re not a new thing as beef scraps have been used to control beef costs since the ’70s. But, the thought that is exists and is in something you’re eating is pretty creepy.

Yellow Submarine morphs into Rock That Burger in Kendall

Everyone who’s followed the Miami Food Truck scene knows the Yellow Submarine truck as not only one of the originals but one of the few trucks who’s food quality never wavered. They were known for their Colombian style Burgers and of course one of the most majestic hot dogs ever, the Yellow Dog.

In early January they announced the truck would be shutting down as they would be going the brick and mortar route. Now, as the opening nears they’ve dropped another bombshell that they will now be known as “Rock That Burger“. Their goal is “a place where you can eat the best burgers and hotdogs while enjoying an atmosphere of good music“. I will keep you posted on the opening date as soon as I hear about one. Yellow Dog…..I miss you!
