The Miami Street Food Court Returns To Westchester On Tuesday March 26th

Blues-Brothers

I was approached by the folks at Miami Auto Collection about putting together a Food Truck Event at their new location in Westchester. I thought to myself how the Miami Food Truck scene had changed in the last 2 and 1/2 years since that dusty lot on 65th and Bird Road which Food Truck manafacturer Food Cart USA has secured for use and I had named the Miami Street Food Court. Wouldn’t it be cool to get the gang back together? The folks who set the pace for that 1st year before Food Trucks who’s idea of original cuisine was a frozen burger and fries for $9 (those mother f’ers) started showing up. Unfortunately, The Fish Box retired from active duty earlier this year which means the original line up can not be reproduced.

Chef Richard Hales (Sakaya Kitchen & Dim Ssam a Gogo) suggested I replace them with Jefe’s Original Fish Taco & Burgers in the line-up. It really was a great idea because back then, Jefe’s wanted to get in on the Tuesday Nights at the original Miami Street Food Court and when he couldn’t/wouldn’t/wasn’t allowed to (depends on who you talk to), he ended up creating the B.T.T.R. (Biscayne Triangle Truck Roundup). The acronym was important because it was used to tweet how it was B.T.T.R. or better than any other Food Truck Event going on that night. Twitter battles ensued between both sides over it. Eventually the location on 65th and Bird Road was closed down by code enforcement and all the trucks moved into the B.T.T.R. which flourished into an event that set the bar for Food Truck Events in Miami, but that’s a story for another day.

#SoBeWFF Trucks on Midtown’s Tracks 2013 Pictures

South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s Trucks on Midtown Tracks took place yesterday afternoon. I didn’t make it out to the event but my wife snapped a bunch of  shots. Congratulations to Ms. Cheezious for winning the People’s Choice Award (2 years in a row) and to SFT (Slow Food Truck) for being Andrew Zimmern’s favorite dish!

Largest Food Truck Event Ever Is This Saturday April 20th at Magic City Casino

Largest Food Truck Event Ever!

On Saturday April 20th Magic City Casino will host the Largest Food Truck Event Ever from 5-10PM. In addition to having the largest selection of Food Trucks to choose from there is one other cool thing going on earlier.

All of the over 65 Food Trucks will caravan for 2 miles with a Police Escort. Talk about a photo opportunity! This will happen at about 4:30PM just prior to the beginning of the event. We will be setting the Guinness Book World’s Records for Largest Food Truck Caravan!

There will be a dunk tank courtesy of Food Truck Invasion. All proceeds from the Dunk Tank will go to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation who Help Kids with Cancer. You’ll have an opportunity to dunk Fat Girl Hedonist, Gio of Chat Chow TV, Nedal (owner of Pincho Factory) , Michell (owner Latin House Burger & Taco Bar) and it’s all for a great cause!

Food Cart USA will be raffling off an iPad and $5 good for use on any of the Food Trucks they’ve built. They’ll also have a Demo Food Truck on display so you can step into a Food Truck and see what it’s like from the other side of the window!

And could there possibly be a better day than 420 to set the record for the “Largest Food Truck Event….Ever”?

Admission is FREE, Prices for food vary per Food Truck.

1st Fridays on Federal in Hallandale Beach on Friday January 4th

1st Fridays on Federal Logo

Last night was the inaugural 1st Fridays on Federal in Hallandale Beach, a new Food Truck Event I’m curating in association with the City of Hallandale Beach Parks & Recreation. It will be taking place the 1st Friday of every month at Hallandale Beach City Hall. For more information check out the page on MiamiFoodTrucks.Com. But before you do that, here are some pictures from last night:

Food Truck Invasion’s Food Truckalypse – A Doomsday Affair

On Friday December 21st Food Truck Invasion is having “The Last Food Truck Event of the Mayan Calendar”, Food Truckalypse: A Doomsday Affair.  It makes sense to me that Hialeah’s Amelia Earhart Park will be host to the event since some folks from Hialeah seem straight out of a Cuban Mad Max film.

You can expect an Armageddon Preacher (hopefully not about the Bruce Willis movie), the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Fire Breathers, Zombies and an opportunity to take some pics with Santa Claws.

Oh yes and there will be Food Trucks serving up their end of days menu like EL Rincon del Coqui‘s “Bloody Puertorican“, Mr. Good Stuff‘s “Meatier Shower” and my personal favorite Overload Extreme Street Food’s “Say Cheese cuz you gonna die motherf..!“.

I think that last one pretty much sums it up for me.

The Line-Up:
