At Last, Latin House Burger & Taco Bar in Kendall

They’re baaaaaaack! That’s right, Latin House Grill now Latin House Burger & Taco Bar is open. It had been a while since I had eaten from LHG since they’ve been working on this project for the last few months. I know the menu by heart and it’s always very difficult when trying to decide what to have. The restaurant has ramped up things and back are the Twisted Potatoes which only old school Stalkers (LHG fans) will recognize.

We started with the Sneaky Nachos with Ribeye and the Fondu Mad Love. It wasn’t very original on my part to order 2 tortilla based dishes but my wife insisted on the Sneaky Nachos and there was no way I was leaving without trying that Fondu. The Sneaky Nacho were just as we remembered them in a much larger portion. These dudes were topped with Crema, Avocado-Lime Sauce,  Pico de Gallo, Cheese and Ribeye. This is enough for a meal and a delicious one at that.

Sneaky Nachos

The Fondu Mad Love can be best compared to a Queso Fundido at an authentic Mexican joint. This version not only includes the melted cheese with Chorizo but also Madlove ground beef. Madlove is the name of their signature Burger which is mix of Ground Brisket, Chuck & Sirloin. It was pretty unbelievable but the only problem I found was that the tortilla chips were too thin to scoop with.

Fondu Mad Love

You’ll be surprised to know that I did not order any of their burgers but not because I don’t love them but because the Chimi Burrito and Puffy Flatton are 2 very unique and signature items that deserve as much love for putting them on the food map.

It’s always a tough decision but with my wife here, she orders the Chimi while I go the Flatton route. The Chimi Burrito is just that, a burrito with a twist. The Chimi (I’m on a first name basis) is stuffed with Chuchi Rice (some of the most delicious Yellow Rice you’ll ever have), the protein of your choice (in this case Ribeye), Cheese and Fried Sweet Plantain slivers. But it doesn’t end there, it’s also topped with their Avocado-Lime Sauce &  fresh Pico de Gallo and Twister potatoes. This is an epic dish and once you finish you will feel as you’ve been through a battle.

Chimi Burrito

The Flatton, (I should admit I attend classes for Flattons anonymous) is what creeps into my daydreams jumping over a fence in lieu of sheep. The Puffy Flatton is an amped up Taco. It’s a flat-bread topped with melted Provolone, Swiss and Mozzarella Cheeses, Grilled Onions, Mushrooms with shredded Ribeye steak (I occasionally order the Chicken version too), Crema, Avocado-Lime Sauce & Pico de Gallo. No words have been created yet to describe this. We’ll leave it at that.

Puffy Flatton

And just when you think, man I’m pretty full how am I gonna make that 20 foot walk to my car….there’s the Balls to the Wall. The dessert is named after the Accept song, just kidding. Well imagine a very rich and tasty brownie rolled into a ball, battered and then fried but it doesn’t end there. It’s topped with powdered sugar and a condensed milk drizzle, desserts don’t get more decadent than this.

Balls to the Wall

You can tell by reading that I’m a giant of theirs and how passionate they are about making great food. Give it a try you’ll love it. And make sure you ask for Chuchi and tell her I say Hello, I’m her biggest fan.

Comida Sobre Ruedas en Miami (Miami Food Trucks) Trailer for Upcoming Reality Show

There’s a new reality show in the works with the working title, “Comida Sobre Ruedas en Miami” or for you non Spanish speakers Food Trucks in Miami. The show will follow the Miami Food Truck scene but also will feature a few trucks including Grill Master Cafe. As soon as more info is released you’ll be the first to know.

Yellow Submarine morphs into Rock That Burger in Kendall

Everyone who’s followed the Miami Food Truck scene knows the Yellow Submarine truck as not only one of the originals but one of the few trucks who’s food quality never wavered. They were known for their Colombian style Burgers and of course one of the most majestic hot dogs ever, the Yellow Dog.

In early January they announced the truck would be shutting down as they would be going the brick and mortar route. Now, as the opening nears they’ve dropped another bombshell that they will now be known as “Rock That Burger“. Their goal is “a place where you can eat the best burgers and hotdogs while enjoying an atmosphere of good music“. I will keep you posted on the opening date as soon as I hear about one. Yellow Dog…..I miss you!

COOLHAUS Adds The Burger Beast Ice Cream Sandwich

How often can someone say that they’re immortalized as an Ice Cream Sandwich? I will go out on a burger limb and say not many. When COOLHAUS approached me about adding a Burger Beast Ice Cream Sandwich to their line-up, I was ecstatic. COOLHAUS has all these fantastic flavors and cookies to choose from. I thought long and hard about which cookie and/or flavors best represent me.

The BB has Potato Chip & Skor Bar Cookies sandwiching a slab of COOLHAUS’ Brown Butter Candied Bacon Ice Cream. The sandwich is as divine as it sounds. You’ll be able to get your hands on this dude starting this Friday at the Miami HEAT Happy Hour held at Tobacco Road starting at 5PM.

Not the BB but still good!

The best part? It will also be available at all the COOLHAUS trucks in Austin, Los Angeles and New York as well as the store in Culver City, California.

Look for the 2 COOLHAUS trucks around Miami and work your way through their menu. You won’t be disappointed. Oh and make sure to have a BB Ice Cream sammie while you’re there.
