You know what’s really good? Tamale at Taqueria El Mexicano in Little Havana
Posted by: | CommentsYou know what’s really good? The tamale at Taqueria El Mexicano in Little Havana. I love tamales but seem to have trouble finding exceptional ones. I waltzed into Taqueria El Mexicano looking to enjoy a Cochinita Pibil Taco and left a giant fan of their tamale. It had a moist Pork filling and deliciously light and not overbearing red sauce. The tamale is served in a corn husk and it’s up to you to unwrap this beauty and enjoy.

You know what’s really good? Pan con Lechon at Papo Llega y Pon
Posted by: | CommentsYou know what’s really good? The Pan con Lechon at Papo Llega y Pon. Papo Llega y Pon is located in the Allapattah part of Miami. I’ve probably driven past this place a few hundred times and never even noticed it. It looks more like an outdoor laundromat than the home of probably one of the greatest Pan con Lechons on earth. Pan con Lechon is a Cuban Roast Pork Sandwich for those non locals. Why Cuban? Not only cause I said so but the flavors, preparation style and bread make it so. When ordering you could just go the pork only route but the onions and hot sauce along with the mojo really are what make the sandwich exceptional. There are 2 sizes (small and large) and possibly some secret menu since the lady ahead of me (who really shouldn’t have been wearing a tube top) ordered a full loaf of Cuban bread stuffed with the heavenly meat. There are a few other items available and if you get there early enough, chicharrones. I haven’t been that lucky as of late unfortunately.

You know what’s really good? Bistec A La Milanesa from Caribe
Posted by: | CommentsYou know what’s really good? A Bistec A La Milanesa at Caribe Cafe Restaurant. You can either go the steak or chicken route with this dish. The steak or chicken is pounded thin, breaded and then pan fried. It’s topped with ham and thick slices of Swiss cheese which is then melted. If that’s not delicious enough they add some Parmesan cheese on it for the finish. Decadence at its best!

You know what’s really good? Quiche at Buena Vista Deli
Posted by: | CommentsI know what you’re thinking: “Is he really writing about quiche?” The first I even heard of quiche was when Jon Favreau in the movie Swingers said that real men don’t like quiche. I say, why not? It’s creamy, it’s eggy and it’s got cheese. Cheeeeeeseee!!!! And I loved it, so there! Maybe I should join quiche eaters anonymous?

| The Double Cheezer “Miami Style” from Jefe’s |
This thing slays me. The cheese/boss sauce/onion combination is just unbelievable. You have to of course order it “Miami style” which means you’ll get extra everything with grilled onions. I skip the tomato, lettuce, pickles but if you do order it that way I won’t hold it against you. Don’t forget to order the real deal fries while you’re here also cause they were rightly named.

You know what’s really good? The Chicago style Italian Beef Sandwich from Cipriano’s Deli. I don’t think there’s any to say that the pic can’t tell you. I’ve never had a Chicago style Beef Sandwich and if this is what I’m missing then I’m booking a flight to Chi-town tonight.

Never had a Disco Volador? Maybe it’s just a Cuban thing. These flying saucer sandwich can be stuffed with whatever you like but the most popular items are ham/cheese and guava/cream cheese. Daddy’s Grill brushes them with butter right after they’re done giving them some extra goodness.

So you know what’s really good? The Sol Kitchen’s ‘Auto’ Bahn Mi Burger. At Art Basel, Sol Kitchen was cooking out of the gastroPod and had this incredible burger which has been around since ’03 (at least that’s what I heard). It’s a pork burger with their mayo, pickled veggies on a bun. It was amazing which means we’re going to be expecting great things when the Sol Kitchen Truck launches. In the meantime, there’s always Sundays.
