Now, my cousin Fred doesn’t get scared easily of food, but Casola’s Pizza is one of those rare cases where he did. When I went and got our burgers with fries, I could tell from the look in his eye that he would not be able to eat them.
In his defense, he had just eaten a plate of seafood at his Mom’s house prior to this, but being the trooper that he is, he chose to join in on this assignment.
Our original plan was to get some of their pterodactylus wings, but I then decided Casola’s would be the place to eat since I remembered how ridiculous their burger was. Casola’s is mainly known for its pizza and subs, but many are unaware of their signature burger: a 16-oz double cheeseburger with grilled onions and Italian sausage slivers.
The portions at Casola’s Pizza, in general, are larger than average, and sometimes that isn’t necessarily a good thing. The pizza is average to good, depending on who is making the pies. Plus, the more toppings you add, the less likely you are to taste the cheese and sauce.
Casola’s Burger?
The burger patties suffer from a similar fate. While they are not very flavorful, it’s the grilled onions, cheese, and Italian sausage slivers that shine through.
Is this one of the best burgers I’ve ever had? Not really. If you consider yourself a fan of burgers, then I suggest you challenge yourself to down one of these fellas and see if you agree with my assessment.
