If you watch Man v. Food, you’ve probably heard of Big Pie In The Sky Pizzeria. This pizza joint was featured in one of the earlier episodes.
Big Pie in the Sky Pizzeria is known for The Carnivore Challenge. To win the challenge, you and a friend must eat an eleven-pound pizza consisting of pepperoni, ground beef, Italian sausage, ham, and bacon in under an hour to win $250.
The Carnivore Challenge is only available Monday through Thursday at 3:30 and 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3:30 p.m. We weren’t there on the right day, so we could not order the Carnivore pie.
It was raining, yet the place was busy, and there was a bit of a wait. All the tables are taken, but we order anyway. We’re hoping the XL 30″ (half cheese/half carnivore), meatball, and chicken parmesan subs will have a home when the food comes out.
We dig in and start with the two subs. Both subs left a lot to be desired. Both the meatballs and chicken parmesan weren’t flavorful. It was disappointing since we had high hopes.
On the flip side, the pizza was great. The group consensus is that the pizza crust was delicious.
Big Pie In The Sky Pizzeria‘s catchphrase is right: their slices are bigger than your head. So now the real question is, could we have completed The Carnivore Challenge? Doubtful.
