Howie Kleinberg’s Bulldog Burger will be open very soon

“I always wanted to roll out a couple concepts under the ‘Bulldog’ umbrella,” says Kleinberg. “Our burger is a huge seller, and I originally wanted more burgers on the Barbecue menu anyway, so this concept was a no-brainer.”

Bulldog Burger will be located right next to Bulldog Barbecue (winner of my 2009 Burgie for Best Side: Mac N’ Cheese. They’ll be linked by an entryway in their shared wall, which is great since you’ll be able to order from both menus. I gotta give it to him, there are some burgers that are out there on the menu which means I’m definitely looking forward to trying them, check it:

French Bulldog: with crisp bacon, caramelized onions, brie, crispy onions and a Dijon mayo

Mexicali Blues: with chorizo-spiced beef, avocado, fried pickled jalapenos, queso fresco, and chipotle mayo.

The Hawaii Five-O:  with crispy ham, roasted pineapple, pepper jack cheese and Kleinberg’s house-made “Big Kahuna” sauce.

Honky Tonk Woman: with fried bologna, American cheese, coleslaw, fried pickles and Bulldog BBQ sauce.

Prime Steakhouse burger:  is topped with caramelized onions, a blue cheese-spinach croquette and tangy horseradish mayo.

A Hunk of Burnin’ Love: features bacon, fried bananas, pepper jack cheese – and spicy peanut butter.

Luther V:  is a bacon-cheeseburger served on a Krispy Kreme donut “bun.”

The Baja:  is made with ground shrimp, bacon and avocado and is dressed with a chipotle mayo

Not So Kosher:  has crisp kosher salami as its focal point, with coleslaw, Swiss cheese, deli mustard and a 1000 Island dressing “schmear.”

The traditional Bulldog Burger will be available as well as a build your own 6 oz. burger with different options (sauces, toppings and cheese). Bulldog Burger will open early 2011 at 15400 Biscayne Boulevard, Suite 106 in North Miami, right next door to Bulldog Barbecue, Suite 105. The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner from noon to 10:00 p.m. daily.

We were in your restaurant on Memorial Day weekend and I have to tell you that it was one of the worst experieinces we have had in a while. We take our entire family out several times a week in the area and so we know good food. Our daughter was at the Food and Wine festival at the Hamburger Bash and she was the one that recommended your place. She adored your burgers there and could not stop speaking about them.

However there was definitely something wrong on Sunday of Memorial day at your place. My daughters and mine were burned and I told the waiter and she did not care. We had to completely take off both sides of the burger. The service was terrible also. We were in the restaurant with two small children over 2 hours because of the lack of service. The waitress did not write anything down and I guess this is the reason we did not receive the 2 salads we ordered, the child’s milk, received one wrong order. When we looked into the kitchen after dinner, it was a total mess, food on the floor all over, rather disturbing.
The presentation was really awful also…I also heard others complaining around us of the poor service. It was so loud in there with the music you could not even speak to one another in addition.

I have never written to a restaurant before, but it was sad that this happened. Perhpas the main chef was not in town, we do not know what was going on. We made a special trip to your place because of my daughters rave reviews of the burgers. I write to tell you this in hopes it may help with your restaurant and service etc.
