BurgerFi Burgers & Fresh-cut Fries are Top Notch!

BurgerFi’s food is excellent. Everything from their burgers and fresh-cut fries to their hot dogs and onion rings is all worthwhile.

Since its first location in 2011, BurgerFi has had a growth spurt where it expanded rapidly into other states. Then it seemed as if they took some time to grow into the locations they already had.

During this time, the phenomenal CEO Burger was added to the menu.

More recently, BurgerFi added a super tasty chicken sandwich and tenders to their already loaded menu of greats. Now, they’ve partnered to create a series of delivery-only restaurants (Ghost Kitchens) across the U.S.

If properly executed, many new folks will be turned onto the BurgerFi experience that South Floridians have known about for almost a decade.

I took all the food pictures at different BurgerFi restaurant locations in Aventura, Coral Gables, Delray Beach, Doral, Lauderdale by the Sea, and delivery.

September 3rd, 2012 – As I usually do when I’m going to check out a restaurant, I like to go in the afternoon, right after the lunch rush. This morning my breakfast was a coffee and some plain white toast, which meant I was ready to go once at the new BurgerFi (18139 Biscayne Blvd) in Aventura.

And by go, I mean eat, not leave. I stood and took in the menu just in case I overlooked some new items online.

Of course, I ordered the classic cheeseburger, which includes two patties, two slices of American cheese, & a slathering of their secret sauce (which, the first time I had it, I didn’t care for). I opted to go lettuce and tomato-less as usual.

Some free toppings like grilled onions or jalapeño peppers and premium toppings like a sunny-side-up egg will set you back a buck. Those are all fine and dandy, but this burger is so good alone that you’d be doing significant van damage by doing that.

I can also confess that I’ve never ordered any of those toppings, be it free or premium, so what do I know? Well, that is not true; I have had bacon.

You have to do what’s right for you, but cheese & the secret sauce are it for me.

Cry & Fry are for Two?

Cry & Fry
Cry & Fry

It clearly states that Cry and Fry are for two people. If you’re a fan of both onion rings & fresh-cut fries, then don’t share. The onion rings are gigantic, seasoned, and irresistible. The fries are excellent; I almost cried when I ran out of them. Almost….

After mourning over my fries, I moved on to their Wagyu Chili Dog. Yes, the regular dog is good, but pay a little more and get a better-tasting dog. So ask me; I know you’re dying to.

Why would I then add chili & cheese to this spectacular wiener? Cause I could.

I did not order the parmesan and herb fries with garlic aioli smothered on top from the Secret Menu, but my cousin Fred did. He also ordered the VegeFi Burger served in lettuce, but this post is not the place for such blasphemy.

The fries looked great, and there are a few other items on their Secret menu you may want to know about and try. I’m not sure that it’s top-secret, but hey, to each their own.

Now that BurgerFi is finally in Miami Dade County, we need to find a way to convince them to open a little bit farther South, like near my house.

September 19th, 2011 – BurgerFi has been open for a while now, but I put off checking it out since all I would hear about it are the Shake Shack comparisons. However, there is no doubt that this is indeed a Shack Shack clone down to having Concretes (frozen custard).

However, they have more options for dressing your burger, but how does the food stack up to the Shack? I love fries and onion rings, so it’s great that the Cry and Fry option is available.

I didn’t necessarily want to order two complete individual orders of these guys. However, both were solid and not greasy.

If I had to choose, I’d tell you to go for the fries, as fresh-cut fries can’t be beaten in my grubby book.

Do I need the Chili Dog?

I saw a chili dog on the menu, and I asked myself, “BB, Do you need this?”. Well, maybe I didn’t say the “BB” part.

The answer, of course, is yes.

I loved this thing but could have done with a little less of the Rex Hot Sauce. It would have been a different story if it had been Frank’s Red Hot.

The burger was excellent. It’s served in the little wax pocket, like you know who, but its bun is stamped with the BurgerFi logo. The patties had a nice little crust and were very juicy.

They aren’t large either; they’re only about 4 ounces. I would have enjoyed the burger more had there been no secret sauce.

I didn’t care for it, as it seemed to come through a little too much. But don’t get me wrong; I would have another burger here in a heartbeat—a great place with some great food and welcome addition to the South Florida burger scene.
