Taperia Raca is the new tapas spot by Giorgio Rapicavoli and Alex Casanova of Eating House fame with Chef de Cuisine Ryan Harrison, formerly of Preservation in the kitchen. They recently opened up in the old Metro Organic Bistro location near Dogma. Once I heard the magic word, “Croqueta” I was already in my car driving over.
This whole small plates or sharing deal is difficult for me as I tend to end up with way too many food saucers on my table, today was no different. I was by myself and took so much stuff to go that the size of my brown bag looked as if I was a shopping extra on some horrible X-mas commercial.
On the food side, everything was good to excellent but the standouts had to be the Pan con Tomate, Manchego Croquetas, the Burger and those mother f’in Patatas Bravas.
If you’re scoring at home, the Burger Chef Harrison had on the menu at Preservation would win in a Burger Beast blind taste test but what the Taperia Raca Burger has going for it is the combination of toppings makes it very special.
There’s also a Patatas Contentas dish with Manchego, Bacon, & Truffle topped Potatoes. I mistakenly ordered one to finish filling up my bag and I accidentally ate it all when I got home too, what a shame.
P.S: If you’ve got some space left, the Nutella Rice Pudding is the way to go.
