I can’t believe it’s May again. It seems like just yesterday that we had the Frita Feast and the 2013 NHM Closing Party. So this is the 6th time that I’ve been celebrating National Hamburger Month on the Burger Beast Blog and as usual there will be giveaways (on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) including another great Shake Shack Giveaway towards the end of the month. Bourbon Steak (Turnsberry Isle): Starting Thursday May 1st, BOURBON STEAK will feature an off menu specialty Burger paired with a special cocktail. Those who eat each of the first three specialty Burgers will receive the fourth week’s Burger and beverage pairing for free! Must provide proof of purchase.
Week 1: Local Burger and Beer – Enjoy a truly native burger, made with local grass-fed Kobe Beef, Boynton Beach Heirloom Tomato, Local Lettuces and Local Burrata cheese; paired with Florida’s own Key West Sunset Ale
Week 2: Mexican Burger – This beef burger with cumin is served with jalepeno chimichurri and avocado mousse paired with “La Ultima Pallabra,” a classic Tequila Beverage by house mixologist Rafael Vasquez.
Week 3: Haute French Burger – This decadent burger features foie gras and truffles, paired with Sommellier Craig Terriaca’s wine pairing, a 2012 Monier Perreol Syrah from France’s Rhone Valley.
Week 4: Japanese Burger – Big eye tuna meets scallion, sesame and ginger, served with roasted nori mayo and fresh wasabi vinaigrette; paired with Junmai Daiginjo premium sake.
Bread + Butter Counter (Coral Gables): Every Wednesday in May during lunch and dinner service Bread + Butter Counter will become a full fledged Burger Joint with Five Fritas to choose from, Hot Dogs Sandwiches, Shakes & Desserts.
Cheeseburger Baby (South Beach): If you order the “Keepin it Classic Burger” then you’ll get 10% off the entire bill.
Eating House (Coral Gables): Every Wednesday in May, Eating House will make 24 Burgers and once they’re gone, they’re gone!
El Mago De Las Fritas (West Miami): Coming Soon
Five Napkin Grill (South Beach): Simon Dick’s Naan Burger featuring Fresh Ground Beef seasoned with Garam Masala, topped with Grilled Paneer Cheese & Curried Spinach on Naan Bread. It will be served with a side of hand cut Sweet Potato Fries.
Lucky Strike: The Burger de Mayo (half pound all-beef Burger topped with melted American Cheese, Lettuce, Guacamole and Pico de Gallo, served in a “Quesadilla Bun” and filled with a blend of White Cheddar and Oaxaca Cheeses – garnished with two grilled jalapeño. It’s served with a side of Tortilla Chips and fresh made àrbol Salsa) will be sold in all Lucky Strikes from May 1 through May 31. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of this Burger will benefit the Conquer Cancer Coalition.
Meat Market (South Beach): Executive chef/co-owner Sean Brasel, will showcase specialty burgers every day during lunch from May 1 – May 31. All burgers are served with a side of signature Meat Market fries and will feature creative specialties such as:
The Italian Buffalo Burger – house ground buffalo, crispy fried buffalo mozzarella, grilled marinated radicchio, spicy dried tomato pesto and fresh basil aioli served on a wood grilled sesame brioche bun
Prime Smoked Short Rib Burger – an 8 oz short rib delight with 1000 mango island, arugula, purple cabbage slaw, gouda cheese and fried onions
The American Wagyu Burger – a spin on the classic with bacon, jalapeno relish, avocado, gruyere cheese, lettuce and tomato.
Brasel’s Buffalo + Bleu – ground buffalo piled high with roasted radicchio, Napa cabbage, remoulade slaw, bleu cheese and rosemary cream smoked pickled jalapeños
The Spicy + Smoky Burger – a house ground buffalo patty sharing the bun with spicy candied bacon, smoked cheddar, pickled chilies, Boston lettuce and tomato.
Michael Mina 74 (South Beach): Michael Mina 74’s chef de cuisine Thomas Griese has prepared a unique lineup of expertly crafted specialty burgers for the month’s festivities. Every week in May, the restaurant will showcase a different burger each with its own unique flavor. A special burger and beer pairing will also be offered at the bar, from 6-7 p.m. and again from 11 p.m. – close.
May 1-10: Puebla Burger – “This Latin burger creation celebrates Cinco de Mayo, featuring Mexican ingredients and flavors.”
May 11-17: Spicy Yo Mama Burger– “A dish inspired by chef Thomas’ childhood memory of peanut butter, crispy bacon and his mom.”
May 18-24: Rossini Burger– “A mouthwatering and refined dish exuding French luxury with foie gras, fondue and black truffles with a port demi-glace.”
May 25-31: Backyard BBQ Burger– “House smoked BBQ brisket glazed in a homemade BBQ sauce.“
Oak Tavern (Design District): Chef/Owner David Bracha’s restaurant already features The Grass Fed Cheese Burger. For National Burger Month, Bracha will debut the House Ground Sliders – a mouthwatering blend of skirt, chuck and strip steak with oxtail marmalade, peppered jack and fried shallots. The sizzling sliders will be available all month long for lunch and dinner.
Rok:Brgr (Ft. Lauderdale & South Miami): The $50 Truffle Burger (10 oz. of Prime Shortrib, Brisket, & Chuck blend topped with Truffle Tremor Cheese, Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras, & shaved Summer Truffles, served with hand-cut Truffle Fries and a Truffle port reduction) will be available only during National Hamburger Month and with limited availability, you need to add this to your NHM Burger agenda:
Shake Shack (Boca Raton, Coral Gables & South Beach): Information about the Shake Shack Fresh Cut Fries debut and more coming soon
Taperia Raca (Biscayne Corridor, MIMO): Chef Ryan Harrison has come up with a new Burger for National Hamburger Month – 8oz Burger, Brioche Bun with RACA Sauce smeared on it(a combo of their Spicy Smokey Bravas Tomato Sauce, Sherry Fig Jam, & Romesco), then Jamon Serrano that’s flash fried, Manchego Pimenton Cheese Sauce, Fried Egg, Potato Sticks (made in house of course!) with a side of pickles and choice of Baby Kale Salad or Patatas. I think it’s safe to say I will skip the Kale Salad. This Burger is only available Mon-Thurs and select nights which will be disclosed on Social Media.
Tongue & Cheek (South Beach): Not only is Tongue & Cheek going all out with a different Burger every Wednesday during National Hamburger Month, but they’re including a complimentary Milkshake, now that’s dedication!
