I visited Siamo Pizza a few weeks ago and had a really great experience there. It’s funny to see the slow resurgence of the Miami Springs area with newer places like Jr’s Gourmet Burgers & Crackers Casual Dining. I spent summers as a kid working in this area with my Dad on the Wise Potato Chip route that he owned at places that I can still vividly remember like Piggly Wiggly (now Milam’s). Siamo Pizza also happens to be right down the street from this very spot.
Chunktronics joined me and we arrived just as they were opening up which gave us some time to think and rethink what we were gonna order. We started with what I’d call a Caprese Sandwich (thin Focaccia Bread sandwiches brushed with e.v.o.o and sprinkled with Sea Salt & Oregano, filled with fresh Mozzarella & fresh Plum Tomato). You couldn’t get any better or fresher of a start for a meal. By the way, I’m calling it a Caprese Sandwich due to any lack of remembering what it was really called. Name or not, get it.
I’ve tried to make a transition to have Wine with certain meals during the week but if they’ve got a Sangria, then that’s what I’ll have. What they had was Sangue Di Giuda which fit the flavor profile I was looking for.
The Celeste Pizza (Mozzarella & Ricotta Cheeses, Italian Sausage & Red Onions topped with Two Eggs Sunny Side Up) was only available for lunch and was just what Dr. Beast asked for. There was two of us so it was easy to divide the runny egg slices amongst us. Otherwise, it would have been whoever called Pizza Shotgun first. Or another good trick is to treat whoever is with you so that they have no choice but to give up the choice food to you.
We also snacked on a Calzone di Spinaci (Ham, Spinach & Mozzarella Cheese served with homemade Marinara Sauce). And by snack I mean devour. The sauce was vibrant and if you love Tomato you’ll definitely dig it.
We added an extra pie to the mix, the Quattro Formaggi (Mozzarella Cheese, Gorgonzola Cheese, shaved Grana Padano, Ricotta Cheese, homemade Garlic Butter & fresh Basil) since I can’t pass up a good Cheese orgy. This is one of those, get this away from me before I eat it all moments. I think of my moments with that Pizza like one might fondly remember their childhood summers.
I couldn’t believe the word “Pizzanella” came out of my mouth instead of “Please bring the bill” when I was asked if we wanted anything else. The Pizzanella (Pizza Dough topped with Nutella, Vanilla Ice Cream & fresh Strawberry slivers) was the right way to end this meal. One bite and I was done. You might want to pace yourself a little better than we did when you eat here or come really hungry.
