I normally don’t go so many months in between visits to a restaurant I really like. In this case, it might have had something to do with Son of a Pizza Pub being about 40 minutes away from my home.
My first time was just about 9 months ago with my cousin Fred in tow, we ordered Garlic Rolls, Loaded Fries (topped with Cheese, Jalapeños & Pepperoni), Hot Wings, Meatball Sub, a White Pizza and a Pepperoni Pizza. I also snapped a picture of their fried Mozzarella block.
The things that stood out in my mind were the Loaded Fries which included Pepperoni (something I had never tried before) and the White Pizza, which was perfect.
On the second visit, I had my buds Alex and Steve along for the exercise in excessiveness. The Garlic Rolls topped with Cheese were winners but even without the Cheese, they should be an important part of your order.
While we’re talking next level greatness, the Wings tossed in Buffalo Hot and Garlic/Parm Cheese was just that. If you can skip on sharing them then go greedy, it’s worth it.
We saw a Patty Melt on the Daily Specials board so I had to find out what the deal was. I start by asking a very important question, fresh or frozen Burger Patty? Now, with the question answered properly I moved onto finger crossing and hoping it was on point. If you look up Patty Melt in the dictionary it should mention and picture Son of a Pizza Pub’s version, it was right on. By the way, the correct answer always is Fresh.
We opt for the Sicilian Style Pizza topped with Pepperoni, Sausage, and Bacon. I prefer their regular style Pizza but I did like the topping combination chosen by Alex.
I need to visit again, sooner rather than later and get the Hamburger Sub. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that it’s going to be killer.
