I’ve had my beady little eyes on the Orange Bear Restaurant for over a year and now that my car’s issues are out of the way it was time to check out what was happening on the west coast of Florida. Originally the OB were located inside of a Flea Market which even interested me more since the food seemed like the exact opposite quality of what I would expect to find there.
Recently they moved into the
Bonita Springs Moose Lodge (it is now found at the Casino in Dania Beach, Florida) which just added a beautiful Tiki Bar space to the bar/restaurant portion of the lodge. So before you even ask, you must be a member of the lodge BUT you’re allowed 5 visits before you have to officially become one. After having eaten at the Orange Bear, I’d become a member with the quickness if I lived in the area.
The amount of food my wife Marcela, my friend John and I ordered was pretty impressive but even more impressive is that it was all very good. The Onion Rings were the only thing that maybe needs a little livening up with some sort of dipping sauce.
So the fresh cut Fries are topped with a homemade Chili and house-made Fat Tire Beer Cheese Sauce, this alone was worth the trip. The Chili had no beans (just how I like it) with a bit of sweetness and the Cheese Sauce was out of this world. The Chili Cheese Dog has the same two toppings on a Nathan’s Dog, no complaints here.
The Potato Skins, again house-made and not some microwaved number were topped with Jalapeños, Bacon, melted Cheese and a side of Sour Cream. Lucky for me, no one at the table was a Potato Skin fan so these were all mine.
The Chicken Wings had some nice heat to them and for the truly daring there is the Bear Suicide Wing Challenge: 10 Wings in 10 minutes with no Milk or Ranch sauce. Eat the Wings in 10 min & get them for Free, a Tiki Bar Shirt, an Orange Bear Shirt and a 10 dollar Gift Card.
There are a few Burgers & Sandwiches on the menu. Since I knew Marcela was going for the Bacon Bourbon Cheddar Burger and John for the Noble, I went the plain ol’ Cheeseburger route. My Burger while good was no match for the Sautéed Bourbon Onions and Bourbon Sauce on Marcela’s or the Yuengling Pulled Pork & Spicy BBQ Mustard Sauce on John’s sandwich. I’ve learned over the years, you win some and you lose some.
The only thing I didn’t get to try was the Pizza and that’s ok, everything else more than made up for it.
