You just can’t drive by an old Dairy Queen building especially when it’s looking so sharp and not stop. It piqued my curiosity and while I expected there to be some good desserts on the menu, it was a nice surprise to find Burgers and Hot Dogs on there too. We order at the window and take a seat on the benches by the side of the building.
I had my fingers crossed that when the food arrived the Chili wouldn’t be of the canned variety, and it wasn’t. Surprise…surprise…it was a great Chili Cheese Dog….note to self: will be taking Chili Cheese Fries under consideration for next time.
The Fries were skin on but not fresh cut, nothing that a bunch of ketchup couldn’t fix. Finally, we get to the shockingly good charbroiled Cheeseburger. I went straight up American Cheese and loaded it with Ketchup, Mustard and Mayonnaise.
Now that’s something I don’t normally do but I was feeling particularly childlike today. All my Burgers as a kid needed to have the holy trinity of Fast Food condiments or I wasn’t havin’ it.
My wife Marcela who wasn’t going to eat anything ended up with a Pecan Double Fudge Delight while I went my predictable route with the M&M Mid West Tornado (similar to a Dairy Queen Blizzard, M&Ms blended with Vanilla Ice Cream product).
Both were right on point but next time I’ll wait to order mine after I’ve eaten since this Florida weather was trying to make sure I’d end up with a Shake.
