Years back I had stopped into Sami’s Pizza & Grill when it was a convenience store (Sami’s Kwik Stop) that was just starting to sell Pizza. I didn’t think much of it then when I dropped in to get some colas nor did I realize they would be expanding to full fledged restaurant.
So, my parents and I are driving up and down Marco Island’s main drag when the sign for Sami’s catches my eye. They weren’t too keen on stopping in since the space is under construction, everything is boarded up and the entrance is through the dimly lit back area. I was hard selling them on going in after which they finally caved in begrudgingly. It’s a good thing cause it was worth all the hassle.
The menu has the usual Pizza stuff with some Burgers, Kebabs, Gyros and Mexican Food thrown in for good measure.
We did not try the Kebabs or Gyros but based on everything else we ate it seems like it would be a safe bet that they’re good.
The Garlic Cheese Bread was nice & toasty, garlicky and a great way to start the meal.
Anytime I can eat a housemade Tamale count me in and this one was no exception. I took a few to go so my wife could enjoy them also.
The Wings are right on, this is exactly what you’re hoping for when you order “Buffalo Wings”. These fellas did not disappoint.
The cheese fries were just that, nothing more. They could use some livening up, maybe some proprietary seasoning or chopped bacon but not bad.
The Tortilla Chips were freshly made and served with Salsa. No complaints from us, we scarfed them down.
The CheeseBurger didn’t do it for me, let’s leave it at that.
Now, the Pizza……WOW!!! This is the BEST Pizza I’ve had in Marco Island. We absolutely loved it and so I added them to the “must eat from every time we’re in Marco Island list“, you should too.
All in all, a great experience at a spot my parents were refusing to stop at. Good thing I stopped listening to them when I was 18….or did I?
