Did you know Angel’s Dining Car is Florida’s oldest continuously operating diner? It opened in 1932 in Palatka, Florida.
Curb service is still available, or you can sit inside the narrow but homey space (an old railroad dining car).
What We Ate at Angel’s Dining Car
Marcela and I started with some highly addictive fried pickle chips. She ordered the patty melt, while I went for the classic quarter-pound burger topped with cheese and mayo on the burger patty. Then, hidden under the burger were onions, pickles, and mustard relish.
After I ordered, I noticed the Monnie Burger. So naturally, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try it.
The Monnie Burger is a mini burger with American cheese on top and pickles, raw onions, and mustard relish on the bottom. This guy was a perfect little snack.
A few days after the visit, Marcela and I discussed Angel’s fresh beef quarter-pound cheeseburger and pickles chips. Oh man, and that Monnie Burger.
There is no doubt in my mind that we will be back at Angel’s Dining Car for round two.
Pro Tip: Don’t be a rookie like me. I missed out on ordering these two signature items:
- Pussalow – Chocolate milk with vanilla syrup over crushed ice
- Black Bottom Sandwich – A burger, egg, and bacon sandwich served on a bun along with burger toppings
