Arbetter’s is a Miami institution and considered by many to be the best in town. It’s been around as long as I can remember (since 1959, but at the present location in Westchester since 1971). It also looks like it’s been around forever (I’m not saying that’s a bad thing), which adds to its charm.
Arbetter’s is also known locally because of the sign on the wall inside, Free Boston Baked Beans The Day After The Red Sox Win The World Series. If you’re wondering, this craziness has happened, and the answer is yes.
There’s also the Free Refills this week When You Say You Love Larry Bird Or Bob Cousy sign. This is true by the way (that you can get free refills not that you love Larry Bird, but then again maybe you do). The original menu was limited to hot dogs, corndogs, fries (chili or cheese) and soft drinks.
Over the last few years David Arbetter, son of founder Bob Arbetter has added some new items to the menu. There are now tater tots, onion rings, an all-beef Sabrett hog dog cooked on a griddle to compliment their beef/pork mix boiled dog, and now a deep-fried monster dog if these giant fellas are your thing.
For the longest time, I would order my hot dogs with chili, cheese, onion & mustard. Now, I’m all about the chili onion mustard on the beef dog or the All Around with relish, onion, and yellow mustard.
I’ve also heard the sauerkraut dog is good but that’s not my jam.
CHILI CHEESE FRIES
The chili cheese fries are second to none. The chili here is amazing, yes I said it, AMAZING! It’s a little bit spicy and what’s even better is that it’s bean-less. In other words, the chili is a must-order if you eat here.
Last but not least, there are Corn Dogs. How are they? Nice and crispy on the outside and warm and juicy on the inside, perfect for dipping into yellow mustard.
So what am I saying? If you live in Miami and you’ve never been here, shame on you!
