Chick-fil-A’s limited time Grilled Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Chick-fil-A, who arguably is the top dog in the fried chicken sandwich game, has added a limited-time Grilled Spicy Deluxe Chicken Sandwich. This same sandwich or a variation of it has been in a testing mode a few times since 2017.

Chick-fil-A took their grilled chicken and marinated it in a similar spice blend to their regular Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It’s then served up on a toasted multigrain brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, and Colby-jack cheese. When I ordered mine, I had an option of different cheeses, so beware of that.

There is only a Deluxe version, which essentially means you’re getting cheese, lettuce, and tomato.

Also new to their menu is a Cilantro Lime Sauce. The creamy sauce was created for the new sammy but is not on the sandwich itself. Two small packets of sauce came with my order, one of which went on the chicken, the other was used to dip my waffle fries. Is it too soon to ask for a 16-ounce bottle version?

I’m a giant fan of their regular grilled chicken sandwich offering and consider this an upgrade. I didn’t find it to have as much heat as the breaded version, but when you add the Colby-jack cheese with the new sauce, something magical happens.

Unfortunately, we have no idea how long this fella is gonna be around. In the meantime, go out there and get your fix. If you’re like me, you’ll be stockpiling Cilantro Lime Sauce in your fridge sauce drawer if it doesn’t become a permanent menu item.

P.S.: Now that you’ve seen the sandwich, is it just me, or did it come with entirely too much lettuce? Ultimately it didn’t matter to me cause I stripped it all away.
