Cowy Burger, a smash burger joint just opened in Wynwood in the old Osmio Lounge spot, is quickly making a name for itself. They’ve been doing pop-ups around town for a few years, and this year, they took home the Judge’s Choice Award at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival’s Burger Bash.
Their Cowy Burger, featuring American cheese, bacon jam, grilled onions, and sauce on a potato roll, is freakin’ fantastic. The combination of bacon jam and sauce adds a slight sweetness that perfectly complements the savory flavors.
I also tried the Pickle Rick, which swaps the bacon jam for bacon and the onions for pickles. While it was good, I still prefer the original Cowy Burger—there’s something about burgers and onions that clicks, like cafecito and milk, undeniably delicious.
Which begs the question, do you eat onions with your burger?
In addition to a selection of burgers and waffle fries, they’ve added tequeños, waffle nachos, a bacon croqueta, and a chicken sandwich. There is a “black bean burger” on the menu, but we don’t like to speak about nonsense like that here at Burger Beast.
