Domino’s Cheeseburger Pizza, Thumbs Up or Down?

I must have been asleep at the wheel when Domino’s Pizza announced they were adding a Cheeseburger Pizza to their lineup.

There’s also a chicken taco pizza that I did order, but it was for my wife Marcela to eat.

I wanted to play it safe and make sure if this fella was tasty, it was going only into my stomach.

The Domino’s cheeseburger pizza has ketchup-mustard sauce (more of this later), beef, diced onions, diced tomatoes, American cheese, shredded provolone, and cheddar cheese.

After reading the list of ingredients, I had my doubts that this cheeseburger pizza might tantalize my taste buds.

In a press release on the Domino’s website, Art D’Elia, Domino’s executive vice president-chief marketing officer, said,

“Now friends and family who are craving a taco or cheeseburger on pizza night won’t be disappointed. Domino’s new taco and cheeseburger pizzas are sure to satisfy everyone.”

I think they key part of the quote was, “won’t be disappointed.”

IS DOMINO’S CHEESEBURGER PIZZA GOOD?

It was raining horribly when the pizza arrived but the Domino’s delivery guy literally waded through puddles (I’m not kidding or exaggerating) to get to my door.

Once those boxes (remember I’ve also got my wife’s chicken taco pizza) were safely in my mitts I walked over to watch the newest episode of The Boys.

I could not keep my mind on the show, all we wanted to do was discuss both pizzas.

While I did take a bite of the chicken taco, I was all about this cheeseburger pizza.

What did Marcela think?

Who cares? She doesn’t write a blog.

Just kidding, she preferred her chicken taco pizza but then again she’s not a giant cheeseburger lover like I am.

If you’ve ever watched the Big Lebowski, remember the multiple scenes about the rug tying the room together?

Well, the ketchup-mustard sauce is the one who brings home the cheeseburger taste.

The removal of the ketchup-mustard would change the dynamic of the flavor.

Once you try it, you’ll see what I mean.

Extra points for using beef that tastes chargrilled.

REMINDS ME OF

After my first bite, I said to Marcela that it reminded me of eating cheeseburgers from Burger King when I was a kid.

I remember reading someone’s else review of this pizza and claiming that there should have a pickle component.

In theory, that’s a good idea but it would have taken away from the flavor profile Domino’s created.

If you take a close look at the pizza itself, the dark little bubbles are pockets of American cheese and boy were they good.

To give you an idea of how great the Cheeseburger Pizza is, I woke up the following morning thinking a couple of slices would be replacing my regular coffee, and toasted bagel with jalapeño cream cheese routine.

A couple of slices found their way into my air fryer in the AM while I made coffee.

THUMBS UP

This is not a paid ad. I didn’t even know about the pizza until I hit up the Domino’s app.

Domino’s has outdone itself with the cheeseburger pizza, unlike Papa John’s.

I’ll be back, and I might add jalapeños.

Yes, I know I just told you not to add pickles, but a little heat never hurt anybody.

The large cheeseburger pizza (or chicken taco) will set you back $11.99 each.

I also added one order of my other regular favorite from the Domino’s menu, the Spicy Jalapeno-Pineapple Specialty Chicken, to my virtual basket and chased everything down with a two-liter.

It made for one very happy BEAST, last night and this morning.

  1. It’s become my personal favourite, I admit! I’m not usually a fan of mustard in anything, but in the burger sauce they use for these, it works somehow. Delicious 🙂 I can’t find a date on this post of yours, but I can tell you, the British version does have pickles on it – slices of gherkin pickle, I think they are? Anyway, they look like a chunkier version of the sort that are found in McDonald’s burgers, and they work surprisingly well. The salty semi-crunchy edge gives the pizza that extra something.

I’m having all the rest of my teeth removed midweek (they’re all broken to the gumline, thanks to my Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, so the hospital have to put me under and dig them out of my jaw, urk!), so I got myself a medium size one to enjoy over the next couple of days as a sort of “last meal” – or at least, a last solid one! – as I’ve no idea when I’m going to get the replacement setup dealt with. Works for me…

  2. The cheeseburger pizza was the worst pizza I have ever had. It had clumps of uncooked dough that was supposed to resemble hamburger buns. It was gross. I will never order from them again

    • Dough that was supposed to resemble burger buns? Sounds like your local Domino’s has gone rogue. I’ve ordered this pizza more than ten times and I’ve never had that experience.
