I Got Brunchy Vibes at Doreen’s Cup Of Joe in Marco Island

My family’s yearly trip to Marco Island has a silver lining in the food category, and it’s called Doreen’s Cup of Joe (there’s also the Red Rooster). Doreen’s (267 N Collier Boulevard) is the sister restaurant to the popular Joey’s Pizza & Pasta House, located conveniently about 50 feet away.

Doreen’s is a breakfast & lunch-only kinda place, open from 7:30 AM to 2 PM daily (Sundays included). Over six days, I made three visits to Doreen’s for breakfast, and another time my parents brought me to go in the form of their Southern Burger.

The front page on the menu states,

In striving to provide the best possible breakfast experience, we have chosen to use only
the finest and healthiest products available to us.

These include Eggland’s Best Cage Free Brown Eggs, all-natural sausage patties from the small family-owned Tallahassee farm Bradley’s Country Store, milk from a local farm in Myakka City, Kana Coffee from Miami, and orange juice from fresh-squeezed Florida oranges.

Now that you understand the commitment to quality at Doreen’s Cup of Joe, it should be of no surprise that I had such great experiences each time that I ate here. If you’re looking for the standard omelet or scrambled eggs, you can have that.

But, if you’re looking for something with a little more oomph, then you’re definitely at the right place.

Breakfast Suggestion for Doreen’s

DO NOT; I repeat, DO NOT miss out on the Southern Eggs Bentley. The Southern is two poached eggs, Bradley’s homemade sausage patty, & fried green tomatoes on top of a homemade biscuit topped with cheese grits.

I dug the biscuit sandwich with bacon, American cheese & eggs over medium on the sandwich side. They are two to an order, by the way.

The Baked Apple Pancakes were excellent but did not resemble any pancake I’ve ever had. I’ll take flavor over looks any day of the week.

The fresh-squeezed OJ is a must, and for the sides, I was partial to Doreen’s Home Style Cheesy Breakfast Potatoes aka some great scallop potatoes.

I never did order the Scrapple, so keep that one in mind if you visit Doreen’s.

On the day before we headed back to Miami, my parents ate in but brought me the Southern Burger (w/fried green tomato, pimento cheese, and red onion served on an onion roll). This is the best burger I’ve had in Marco Island, and it was to go. I can’t even begin to imagine how much more I would have enjoyed it right out of the kitchen.

Everything at Doreen’s is worth a try. It may take you a while to get through the menu, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I tried everything on my list except for the crispy Corn Flake Chicken Sandwich. It was able to escape my clutches; luckily, there’s always next year.
