If you follow my exploits on Social Media (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter), I’m pretty sure you’re well aware of my fascination with chicken tenders. I love them so much that I created an event called Luv Me Tenders that was a smashing success and sold out quickly.
Right around the time I was curating the participating restaurants for the event, it came to my attention that Huey Magoos would possibly have their first South Florida ready to go.
Marcela and I had already enjoyed a few meals at Huey Magoo’s chicken tenders joints in the Orlando area. We knew how great the tendies were, so I was super excited.
Opening delays prevented Huey Magoo’s from participating in Luv Me Tenders 2018. The Sunrise, Florida location didn’t open until more than a year later in December 2019.
More Huey Magoo’s South Florida Expansion?
November 2020 saw the opening of their Coral Springs locations, with the possibility of additional locations in Boca Raton, North Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano, Coconut Creek, Margate, and Tamarac coming soon. I’m happy that Huey Magoo’s is now part of South Florida’s ever-growing boneless chicken scene.
The nearest store is still 45 minutes away but worth the drive. We always eat in our car cause of the current situation. Even if I had the willpower to wait till I got home, those tenders wouldn’t be the same as piping hot, just fried tenders.
Huey Magoo’s chicken tenders are juicy and perfect for dipping in one of their sauces (Magoo’s, Spicy Magoo’s, Homemade Ranch, Bleu Cheese, Honey Mustard, Buffalo, Barbeque, Garlic Parmesan, Sweet Heat) or one of their sandwiches.
The Buffalo Sandwich is perfect with buffalo-tossed tenders, jack cheese, and homemade ranch sauce on a squishy roll. Of course, you can get mixed greens and tomatoes, but it doesn’t need that distraction.
The side to get is the fresh-cut potato chips, but there are crinkle-cut fries if those are more your speed. I like to add an extra buttered Texas toast to my meal for dipping in the Magoo’s sauce.
I’m generally pretty stuffed when I leave Huey Magoo’s, but I make sure to take home one of their fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. It’s the perfect snack for a long ride home.
