Is Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen Burger Any Good?

Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen is another in a long line of ghost kitchens (delivery only kitchen) popping up using a celebrity’s name to sell food. The only difference and why I expect this one to be different, Guy Fieri is a food guy.

Hate him or love him; he’s helped out hundreds of mom & pop restaurants across the United States. So for that reason alone, he deserves your respect at a minimum.

I’ve spoken to Guy on several occasions at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and have always found him to be a down-to-earth guy. This compliment comes from someone who has no interest in meeting celebrity food folks.

Where is Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen Located?

Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen comes out of the Reef Kitchen located at 1324 Sw 1st Ave, Miami, FL 33130. This same address (known as Neighborhood Kitchen MIA09-1) is also responsible for Alpha Dog, BurgerFi, Genuine Burger, Grown, Krispy Rice, Man vs Fries, Umami Burger, and Wings and Things, amongst many others.

Initially, I had loaded up my cart with a few sandwiches, apps, and sides but ended up whittling it down after I was dangerously close to hitting the $100 mark. It was tough to drop the Crazy Cuban Sandwich since I knew it was a tribute to the late great Carl Ruiz.

The Real Cheezy Burger ($11.99) and the Flavortown Fries ($4.99) made it to my final order. Here’s what comes on the burger: 80/20 ground beef, SMC, cheddar, LTOP, Donkey sauce, garlic buttered brioche. You can also add bacon for $1; I did not.

SMC = Super Melty Cheese
LTOP = Lettuce Tomato Onion Pickle
Donkey Sauce = Mayo + Roasted Garlic + Mustard + Worcestershire + Lemon

I left a “No LTOP” under the special instructions when placing my order. I enjoy pickles and onions on my burger, but all of these delivery services always deliver lukewarm food.

My note was ignored. When I opened the beautifully branded box, the burg came with all of the toppings.

And as expected, the burger was not hot. According to the attached checklist, the order was completed at 11:28 AM but did make it to my hands until 1:10 PM.

After removing the offensive lettuce and tomato, I reheated my sandwich minus the buns in an air fryer for a few minutes. Now, the Real Cheezy Burger was ready to eat.

My Thoughts on the Real Cheezy Burger

I expected that it would be pretty good, and it was. It’s a damn shame it didn’t arrive hot. Nevertheless, the Real Cheezy has the potential to be great.

It’s a slab of beef smashed on the grill with a thick slice of melted cheddar. The donkey sauce, pickles, and raw onions were under the patty. The onions were thin slivers, similar to what you might find on Fried Onion Burgers.

The fries looked nothing like the ones pictured. These were small crinkle cuts and were not salvageable. They dried out when I attempted to reheat them.

Would I order another burger from Guy Fieri’s Flavortown? Sure, but I’d need to be way closer to the kitchen. This whole hour and forty-minute wait for lukewarm food is for the birds.
