Once upon a sugary time, a few Krispy Kreme Doughnut shops were within a few miles of my home. But unfortunately, they all closed up a few years back.
If you wanna go back before that, Mister Donut and Velvet Creme also used to be within driving distance to me (that’s right, some old-school doughnut mentions).

I’m a fan of the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop experience because I can go in and buy a couple of doughnuts; done deal. If I hit up the supermarket, a minimum of 4 to 6 doughnuts will always be hard as a rock.
And no, they can’t be saved with a dip in coffee or cafe con leche.

I knew this new Krispy Kreme Doughnuts location had opened up in Palmetto Bay, but I forgot about it until I drove down US1. Everyone jocks on the Hot Now sign, which you find at this location.
I don’t see some extensive contraption baking the doughnuts, so I’m assuming they found some way to make them minus all of that production. I’m also not the doughnut police, so I’m not about to question them.

I ordered two doughnuts on this particular outing, one regular and one chocolate.
The original just melted in my mouth, just as expected. However, while not old, the chocolate had the consistency of what you’d find in the supermarket.
The moral of this story is? Please stick to the original and get two while you’re at it.
