McDonald’s officially launches its new line of crispy sandwiches on Wednesday, February 24th. Now, if you’re like me then you know to keep your eyes and ears open for a soft launch. I was doing my weekly drive-by of fast food joints when I spotted a sign with the new chicken sammies at my local McDonald’s.
The prices and descriptions for the new Crispy Chicken Sandwiches are as follows:
- Crispy Chicken Sandwich: All-white meat breaded chicken fillet topped with crinkle-cut pickles on a buttered & toasted potato roll. $3.89
- Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich: All-white meat breaded chicken fillet topped with spicy pepper sauce, and crinkle-cut pickles on a buttered & toasted potato roll. $3.99
- Deluxe Crispy Chicken Sandwich: All-white meat breaded chicken fillet topped with shredded lettuce, Roma tomatoes and mayo on a buttered & toasted potato roll. $4.49
McDonald’s Crispy Chicken Sandwich Breakdown
The Crispy and Spicy Crispy come in the same steamer bags that Popeyes and Burger King use for their fried chicken sandwiches. The Deluxe is housed in a cardboard box similar to those used for their Big Macs and Quarter Pounders.
Right off the bat, the new potato roll is a definite upgrade to the buns from their chicken past. It’s pleasing to the eyes, soft, and most importantly, fresh. Is it just me, or do fast food buns always seem to be about one or two days away from going bad?
My wife Marcela tried all three of them before I did. She declared the Crispy Chicken Sandwich the winner and she’s a lettuce & tomato person. Those crinkle-cut pickles are an important part of these sandwiches, and the Deluxe does not have them, which hurts it in the end.
I felt it was close between the Crispy and Spicy. Both buns were buttered and toasted, plus they had those delicious crunchy pickles. The spicy pepper sauce was what made the spicy version my favorite of the three. I could have probably even used a little bit more of it. The sauce is a buttery buffalo-style sauce with a little heat on the tail end. The whole package worked for me, and I declare them my winner.

I’m sure that you’re wondering how it stacks up against Popeyes and Burger King’s. Well, you’re going to have to wait till KFC launches their new Chicken Sandwich and Taco Bell with their Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco. Then I plan to write a post with a full-on comparison between all the major chicken players.
However, I can tell you that these are the best chicken sandwiches McDonald’s has ever sold. Hopefully, that can hold you over till then.

I ain’t gonna lie that was a shitty review. Only thing I got out of this is that you liked it.
I liked it if we’re comparing these new sandwiches to McDonald’s previous chicken sandwiches.
