If you’re outside the U.S. then you’re already familiar with McDonald’s Spicy McNuggets. For some reason, McDonald’s has been holding out on us until now.
Their new Spicy Chicken McNuggets will hit these shore on Wednesday, September 16th for a limited time. This is the first time since its launch in 1983 that a new nugget “flavor” has been brought to market.
What are the McDonald’s Spicy McNuggets?
The chicken is breaded with a tempura coating of cayenne and chili peppers. I’m interested to see how hot it really is.
Plus, all new nug orders come with a side of Mighty Hot Sauce.
It’s the first new dipping sauce from McDonald’s in more than three years. I know there’s also a Chips Ahoy! McFlurry debuting at the same time but I could not care less about that.
What McDonald’s needs to do is stop messing around and give everyone what they really want, a giant chicken nugget sandwich! Also, stop toying with our emotions, and keep the Hot Mustard permanently on the menu.
P.S.: Employees of McDonald’s STOP giving me Honey Mustard when I ask for Hot Mustard. I don’t want it!
Spicy McNuggets Found Early
I was driving home one night when I glanced over to a McDonald’s that had a Spicy McNuggets poster. It was too late to turn into it, and then I got caught at a light.
After driving four more blocks down, I was able to make a U-turn and finally made it to the drive-thru line. I’m pretty sure I got every red light on my way home, or at least it felt that way.
I sit down at my dining room table and pop open the box. The Spicy McNuggets look like the regular nuggets but slightly orange tint.
The heat is there, but it’s not intense.
Mighty Sauce for the Win
The Mighty Hot Sauce that comes with the nugs is sublime. If you are frightened of any type of heat in your food, you should steer clear of the Mighty Hot Sauce.
I was not expecting that level of heat from a McDonald’s product. Like all of the original lineup of McNuggets sauces (Barbecue, Hot Mustard, and Sweet & Sour), there is an Asian influence in the flavor profile.
It does fit in nicely with the section of their current sauces; hopefully, they are able to keep it in stock. We don’t need another Hot Mustard situation in our lives.
One weird thing that I noticed while I was in the drive-thru, their registers rung up Szechuan Sauce when I requested the Mighty Hot Sauce. I hope Ricky and Morty’s fans don’t catch that; it could cause another riot.
If you find yourself at McDonald’s order those nuggets but make sure to get the Mighty Hot Sauce, it makes this limited-time addition to their menu totally worth it.
My Spicy McNuggets
I ordered six nuggets, but there were actually 5 Spicy McNuggets and a regular one. It was fine cause I had an extra Hot Mustard container lying around waiting for this moment.
If you’ve just discovered the existence of McDonald’s Spicy McNuggets, I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news for you. They are gone.
The interest in both the Spicy McNuggets and the Mighty Hot Sauce exceeded McDonald’s expectations. They have been removed from all menus.
But, like most limited promotions from McDonald’s, there is a change that they might return at a later date, according to Mashed.

Can you buy mighty hot sauce on line or stores
They were out of the sauce altogether when I went by the other day.
Guess what? They’re gone! Just like that… POOF! They’re not even listed on the McDonalds website either. If you search for “6 piece Spicy McNuggets” you get a dead link. I wonder what happened. Distribution problems (possibly due to Covid)? They couldn’t keep up with demand? I just hope they bring ’em back so at least I can try them.
I noticed that too. I had been waiting to update my post and wondered why no one else had noticed or even mentioned it!
After all this time — they have not mastered CONSISTENCY from location to location in serving the Original Nuggets— and now they are going spicy?? no thanks
