Mojo Donuts and Fried Chicken in Westchester

While the Mojo Donuts (8870 SW 40th St, Miami) in Westchester isn’t the original location, but it’s the one I frequent the most. Of the four Mojo Donuts donut shops (Coral Gables, Kendall & Pembroke Pines are the other three), it’s the only one with chicken wings, fried chicken sandwiches, and french fries.

Jimmy (who owns the Miami locations) and I have been friends since 7th grade. So, whenever we see each other, we behave as if we’re 12 years old again.

Don’t believe me? Of course, you do, but you should watch my “interview.”

Creme Brulee Fried Chicken Sandwich

March 3rd, 2018 – After Mojo Donuts Creme Brulee Fried Chicken Sandwich’s appearance on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, I’m going to say that its popularity will skyrocket.

Haven’t you heard of it? Well, let me educate you on it.

Mojo Donuts & Fried Chicken (8870 SW 40th St, Miami) was selling a Creme Brulee Donut. However, there was also a chicken sandwich on the menu.

Then Mojo Donuts co-owner Jimmy Piedrahita had an epiphany, a donut meets chicken doozy of an idea, and the Creme Brulee Fried Chicken Sandwich was born.

They take the Creme Brulee Donut, slice it in half, and use it as buns or the vehicle for the sando. A chicken tender fried fresh placed on the bottom bun, then topped with a mild cheddar cheese sauce, bacon crumbles, and a sunny-side-up egg.

You could pass on having the egg, but that would be criminal.

The Creme Brulee Fried Chicken Sandwich is gonna have people saying, chicken & waffles, who?

Don’t know what chicken & waffles are? That’s a tale for another day.

February 20th, 2013 – In South Florida, if you wanted to hit up an indie Donut shop, you would have needed to drive South to Mandarin Doughnuts (which is now closed) or Dandee Doughnuts (in Pompano). Good news for you, donut-o-holics: Mojo Donuts (7906 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines) just opened with the type of donuts that will drive you nuts.

I was excited when I walked in. The smell of doughnuts & coffee made me float to the counter, just like in a cartoon. I don’t even remember walking after the first step.

There they were before me, calling out to me. How do I decide which to get? Who do I leave behind?

It called for a latte break with a log-cabin bacon bar & apple fritter chaser.

The word wowsers was all that came to mind after having those two.

2 Dozen to Go and throw in 3 Apple & 3 Blueberry Fritters while you’re at it,” thinking out loud and ordering with the same breath. I didn’t even know what I was going to do with all of them, but I felt compelled to buy almost everything. So I sent word to my people, and now I’m waiting.

Mojo Donuts opens at 6 AM and closes when they run out of donuts. I was there at 11 AM, and a few varieties were already gone. So get here early to make sure you can choose from the most extensive selection possible.

My peeps are here! Now, back to my donuts, so skedaddle.
