I had initially heard of Norman Brothers (7621 SW 87th Avenue) because of their smoothies (this was many years ago before smoothies were readily available everywhere). When Marcela and I lived near there, we would shop for beef and chicken because of the quality.
When someone mentioned that I should try out Norman Brothers’ Wagyu burgers, I knew it was game time.
I wasn’t even thinking of this when I walked in. I was trying to figure out what I was going to choose for lunch. Upon entering, to the left of us are shelves with various sauces and a small refrigerated bin with Norman Brothers’ blue cheese dip.
Norman Brothers Blue Cheese?
I’ve had this before, and it was terrific.
At this point, I thought: What could I get to eat that would be an excellent reason to purchase the blue cheese? When I reached the area where there’s warm food, I found it! Chipotle chicken wings!
My mom went with a Pastrami Sandwich. (by the way, purchase five sandwiches, and the 6th is free, we received a card).
The sandwich comes cold. I don’t know if that makes a difference to anyone, but momsy prefers it warm. She also got a cheese soup that was pretty good. It had some veggies in it (I remember crunching on carrots at some point).
The wings were excellent and had a little bit of heat, but not too much for you wimps out there. After making our lunch decisions, we do the slow walk by their Cold Cuts/Butcher area.
Norman Brothers Deli & Butcher Case
It was decided at that exact moment, for dinner we’ll bust out the grill. I also wanted to purchase some of their Wagyu hot dogs. On the grill, those guys are so money.
Fast forward to 6:30 PM, and I bust out the bbq grill at my parent’s house for a Wagyu burger party. I purchased six regular Wagyu burgers and 3 with bacon/cheddar cheese mixed into the meat. All 9 plus 8 of the dogs are grilled to as near perfection as I am capable of.
Unfortunately, most of my family not well versed in the meat universe, which ultimately means the burgers are well done. There was one burger left bunless (only eight buns to a pack). A few of us, including my cousin, have them cooked medium.
I really couldn’t find much of a taste difference between the bacon/cheddar and the regular, except the b/c seemed to be a little juicier. This was one of the best burgers I’ve ever grilled.
NORMAN BROTHERS BURGERS
Every Friday, Norman Brothers is serving up their B&B burgers from 11 AM – 2 PM. Don’t fret if you don’t make it in time, just got to the back corner where the deli is and you can have a burger made to order for you.
I ate mine on an onion roll with cheddar cheese and a mayo smear on the bottom bun. So freakin’ addictive.
Norman Brothers is Closing Rumors
The rumor that Norman Brothers is closing is just that, a rumor.
Carry on.
Does anyone know where the guy who did bbq/smoked meats on weekends go?
