Whenever I’m in Atlanta, I like to eat at least one meal with Billy’s Burgers and my best bud in the food world, Droolius (we go way back). The morning of my book signing at Big Sky Buckhead (where Billy would also be selling his incredible NFA Burger), I suggest we grab breakfast at OK Cafe (1284 West Paces Ferry Road NW).
Unfortunately, or fortunately for my wife Marcela (depends on how you look at it), there will be a lot of burger talk.
It had been a little over ten years since my last visit to the OK Cafe. There are two things that I was looking forward to, the giant Money Tree and the crispy bacon. Marcela and I arrive before my burger bros, so we’ll need some bacon to tide us over until they arrive. It was just as crispy and tasty as I had remembered it.
Our waitress suggests the Fried Cheese Grits, which is another winner. It would help if you made sure that an order of these brightens up your life.
By the time Billy and Droolius arrive, I’ve made up my mind. The Pimento Cheeseburger will find a permanent home inside of my stomach. Marcela orders a breakfast platter while Droolius get some pancakes and bacon.
Billy and I agree to split the Pimento Cheeseburger, but Droolius does sneak a bite. It’s a solid burger, but it couldn’t compete with the company I had.
We always have a great time when we get together, and OK Cafe was the right spot for our meating.
