I met Thomas Ward years ago when he opened up one of the original food trucks in the Orlando area, the Treehouse Truck. After selling that lunch wagon, Thomas took some time off. During his food hiatus, Pig Floyd’s Urban Barbakoa was born.
Pig Floyd’s Urban Barbakoa features BBQ with a mix of sandwiches like the Matahambre (which translates to Hunger Killer) Sandwich or the Mills 50 with brisket, pimento cheese, caramelized onions, and grilled red peppers.
There are some odes to his Hispanic background, like the jasmine rice & Cuban black beans and yuca fries. I’m all about the Plain Jane Sliced Brisket Sandwich and those unbelievable Oakwood Smoked Ribs.
Another must-have is the Mexican Street Corn with chili-lime butter, cilantro aioli, cotija cheese & chives. Marcela’s go-to is the Butter Chicken Taco with yogurt-marinated chicken thighs, tikka masala sauce, fresh jalapeño slices, pepitas & cilantro on a flour tortilla.
Sometimes, there’s chili on the menu, and you can not pass that up. Also, they’ve had a burger on the menu occasionally. Many folks believe Pig Floyd’s has the best BBQ and ribs in Orlando; I’m in that camp.
If you can save some room, don’t forget to have Mama Floyd’s Banana Pudding.

Pig Floyd Delivers
I’m very vigilant on the Original Pig Floyd’s Instagram account for delivery. From time to time, they will deliver to South Florida, which, in my case, is about a three-and-a-half-hour drive.
We always make sure to get our rib fix, and on this one particular occasion, they were also delivering cookies from Gideon’s Bakehouse.
I agree wholeheartedly. Pig Floyd’s is the kind of restaurant you want to wind up at when you’re hungry and you want something better than you could make at home.
